Hi, how was your weekend? Ours was nice. The Hubs and I drove to Baton Rouge to see my little sister and her husband. We had such a good time. We also did a little dreaming and took a few tours of some RVs. The Hubs and I want to get a driver and live it in for a couple months out of the year. RVing is so incredibly relaxing. Have you ever camped in one?

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

This week’s image was chosen by me.

Vintage Fabric from Annie Lauries

This week’s inspiration comes from a vintage fabric piece that I bought when The Hubs and I lived in Missouri. I’d originally purchased the fabric to recover a bench that I had in my closet. Well, the fabric piece, while a decent size, is too small to recover the bench. So now it’s stored in a drawer until I find something to do with it. Kim suggested a pillow and I love love love that idea!!

That being said, the fabric is absolutely beautiful and substantial. I was drawn to the bright, saturated colors, and the floral print. It’s kind of bohemian, a bit mid-century, and kind of modern at the same time.

The main colors in this fabric swatch are burgundy, red, gold, and brown. There are also accents of green and beige. I think this inspiration piece lends itself to embroidered pieces.

I’ve had this embroidered jacket in my closet for-ever and was thisclose to getting rid of it. I’m so happy I didn’t. I adore this jacket. The colors are so much fun. And way out of my normal color zone. I tend to stick with neutrals or natural colors, but this jacket embroidered with the most fun neon shades. And it has Swiss Dot. *sigh*

Make sure you stop by and visit my co-hosts at 14 Shades of Grey, and Fierce Fashion Blog. You’ll definitely want to see their interpretations as well. Make sure you come back on Wednesday to see my co-hosts’ outfits.

Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}

{14 shades of grey} Salazar

Salazar “… built my outfit around this silk scarf, which I think mimics your piece of fabric quite well. My jeans are more purple than red, but it’s the closest I can get to the colors of the embroideries. My boots also have some brocade/embroideries on the back.”

I think that scarf is stunning. And it’s definitely reminiscent of the embroidery in the fabric.

Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}

Kim wrote that she “… embraced the neutrals route because of all of the shades of the background fabric–with a touch of burgundy thrown in.”

Kim’s top is so pretty. Y’all know I’m partial to embroidery and lace-y things.
