Word Filled Wednesday: Be Careful What You Loose

Have you ever angrily whispered, “Drop dead” to someone you love? Or typed a quick “Consider it done” when a friend has appealed to you for prayer over a situation in their life? Or said “God bless you” to someone who’s just sneezed? These are all examples of seemingly innocent utterances that pack a lot of punch. Proverbs 18:21 {NIV} says: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This means that we must guard our tongues and be careful of the words that we speak. When we’re talking over our lives and the lives of those around us, we…

Word Filled Wednesday: Remember the Sabbath

Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there!  Rush rush rush, it always seems like I’m in a hurry to catch up on stuff. That’s my life, 24/7. Whoa, wait! Did I just say 24/7? Yes, I did. And that’s a problem. The Lord tells us in Exodus 20:10 that the seventh day is the Lord’s day and on that day we nor anyone in our households…

    Happy Thanksgiving!

This year, I’m thankful for so much ~ I’m thankful for a God who has shown me love and mercy through it all. I’m thankful for my family who has been through so many changes this year but has grown closer and more loving. I’m thankful for new friends who’ve helped me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new things. And I’m thankful for you, my readers, you’ve laughed and cried with me over the past year and offered words of encouragement when I needed it. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Thank you, I’m linking up with Internet Cafe Devotions for Word Filled Wednesday and Deb Duty Photography…

Word Filled Wednesday: A Time for Everything #NaBloPoMo

Sometimes it feels like things aren’t working out and my prayers aren’t being answered, but I have to remember that God works in His time, not mine. Every phase of life has its seasons, there will be times when the blessings are overflowing but there will also be times when it feels like I’m barely keeping my head above water ~ God’s gift comes not at the end of the trial but in making it through. Facing My Fear of Sharing My Faith #NaBloPoMo

I was terrified to go on DWTS, but facing my fear and overcoming it has been an incredible experience. Have you faced fears and overcome them. ~ Ricki Lake {Guest Prompt} By nature, I’m a relatively shy person. I don’t mind speaking in front of a crowd, I teach American History and I work as a librarian, so speaking before crowds doesn’t bother me; but speaking to people one~on~one scares the living daylights out of me. And going to social gatherings? That totally freaks me out. I actually spend days preparing myself for the event and will often cancel out at the last minute if I feel too overwhelmed. But…

Word Filled Wednesday: Walk in the Light of His Presence #NaBloPoMo

Matthew 10:32~33 32 Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. Wow! Those are probably two of the most powerful and most convicting scriptures in the Bible. How many times have I stood silently while people have used the Lord’s name in vain or made mockery of beliefs that I hold dear?  Denying Christ doesn’t just come from saying “I don’t know the man” as Peter did in Mark 14:66~72, denial comes in allowing people to disrespect my faith. For the longest time, I used to just skip over comments…

Word Filled Wednesday: Your Light Will Break Forth

I started participating in the Word Filled Wednesday meme as a way to share my faith with others in the hopes that hearts would be touched and, perhaps, others will think about their relationship with Christ. I have accepted Christ as my personal savior and I believe that it is only through Him that we can receive the gift of eternal life. For more information on what I believe, click here. I’m linking up with Internet Cafe Devotions (click hereto learn more about ICD) for Word Filled Wednesday (click here to see this week’s edition).  WFW is a way for participants to share the message of God’s love creatively using a photograph or graphic…
