2014 Daily Selfie: Week 9 {In the Dark Room}
Oh my word, y’all, I know everyone has been complaining about the weather but, seriously, can we at least go for consistency? One day it’s pushing 70º and the next we’re at ~5º with ice. I need it be warm or cold, not both. Other than that, the week has been relatively uneventful. But I’m grateful for each and every day. Here’s my week in review, courtesy of Instagram: This was my entry into the Instagram Photo Challenge hosted by Mashable earlier this week. The prompt was #MyFuel. We all know coffee fuels me. It was picture day at the library. Pictures should never be taken during winter or summer,…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 3 {In the Dark Room}
Hi, y’all. I hope you had a great weekend. I did. I spent time with my family just relaxing… Goodness knows I needed it after last week. It was emotionally draining… The hubs and I spent Saturday our usual way: breakfast at a locally owned restaurant and then running errands. It’s the old married couple’s version of a date. After church, I spent the rest of the day vegging on the sofa and playing with my iPad. “Fashion over function.” Those shoes are not practical library wear but they’re cute. A lady delivered a thank you card to my office because I let her husband use my truck to jump…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 2 {In the Dark Room}
Hi there! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice. I spent most of Saturday vegging on the sofa, got sucked in to watching the Hallmark Channel. It was a Janet Oke weekend. I’ve never read her books but, man, was I swept away by the romance, positive messages of putting God first, and loving your family. hand me the tissues Sunday was pretty nice as well. The family and I went to church then I came home and made a big ol’ pot of white bean and beef soup. So delicious! The rest of the day was spent doing, what else, but laundry. What about you? Did you do…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 1 {In the Dark Room}
Hi there! How was your weekend? Ours was nice, I’ll be it incredibly cold! Check out the picture I posted here. I spent most of the weekend hunkered under a blanket with a cup of coffee, natch. I watched a lot of TV and started reading a very intense book by Beth Moore called When Godly People Do Ungodly Things. I also started two new challenges: Bible in 365 days ~ You can read my thoughts here 2014 Daily Selfie ~ I’ll be posting a weekly recap on the blog I began the first day of 2014 the same way I begin every day: with a cup of coffee… Going…

Weekend Wrap~Up {In the Family Room}
Are you ready to begin a new week? I am. Kinda sorta. This is the first full week that the students are going to be back on campus, so things are gonna be kind of crazy for a minute. My own kids have been back at school for a week now, so we’ve pretty much settled into a routine which is pretty nice. Our weekend was pretty non~eventful but there were a few hiccups, some laughs, a triumph, and a new beginning… 1. Can’t Multi~task Yes, this really happened. Lesson: I cannot talk to my aunt and cook dinner at the same time. Between the laughing, sharing memories, and catching…

The MV Mississippi: Largest Diesel Tugboat {In the Neighborhood}
The Hubs and I often have deep and meaningful conversations, especially on Saturday mornings when we’re trying to decide what we want to do besides eat breakfast… The Hubs: “What do you want to do?” Me: “I don’t know. What do you want to do?” The Hubs: “You can’t answer a question with a question.” Me: “Oh.” We finished eating breakfast in relative silence, both of us checking our cell phones and sending each other goofy jokes. Yeah, we’re those people. Then I saw a tweet from Visit Cape announcing that the MV Mississippi would be docked in Cape Girardeau and they’d be holding an open house. So I casually…

3 Favorite Photography Apps for Android {In the Dark Room}
Raise your hand if you’re ready for the Android phone to get some love… raises hands and jumps around wildly I was one of those people who waited with baited breath for Instagram to come to Android. In fact, I like to think that I was one of the first to download the app. My kids were all “We have a hipster mom; snapping pics of her food and filtering it to death.” Whatevs, kids… Instagram is all about sharing stories with pictures, connecting with friends, and making memories. I use Instagram to share morning coffee with my friends and offer words of encouragement. But over time, I got tired…
