The Bible in 365 Days: A Year with God {Living Outside the Stacks}

Genesis 3:21

And the LORD God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.

The making of the clothing from animal skins was the first sacrifice, a foreshadowing of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sins. As a result of Adam’s and Eve’s disobedience, the just punishment should’ve been death but God showed mercy instead.

God’s love and mercy is present even when we are willfully disobedient. This is not because we’re deserving of any special favors but because God loves us so much that He’s willing to give us a second {or third or fourth or fifth} chance.

Dear Lord, thank you for the life that you’ve given me. Thank you for the things that I take for granted. Thank you for the extension of your love, grace, and mercy that cover me each day. Thank you for the sacrifice of your innocent son for my sins. Lord, I ask that you guide my footsteps and guard my heart. Help me to be the woman that you have called me to be. Amen.
