Hey, so this post was written a while back. Before we’d returned to school. Although, truth be told, I didn’t get a summer break. I’m a full-time librarian, so I’m here year around. However, I do tend to dress a bit more casually during the summer. Not as casual as the picture above, but casual nevertheless…
Skip ahead to today and we’ve been in class three days now and things are just as hectic and exciting as you’d expect for the first week of classes. On the very first day, I had an online library orientation session for 4 classes {we had a few more than that invited, but I suspected they wouldn’t make it because, well, first day of classes}. We had a bit of a technology snafu, but once that all got sorted out, everything went well. The next morning, I woke up to an email from a student thanking me for the session, which is always nice. And two subsequent emails from instructors who were on the call asking for more individualized sessions for their classes. I call that a win.
So I will follow up this post with an actual first day of school picture in a few days…
ABOUT AGELESS STYLE
Welcome to Ageless Style! Ageless Style is a monthly link-up hosted by eight beautiful women of a certain age who want to show you that style is ageless. Originally hosted by Carrie of A Simple Lovely Life, she has regained the reigns after a bit of a hiatus. The rest of us responded to a call for cohosts and the rest is, as they say, history. Each month, one of us picks a theme and then we all create an outfit based on that theme. Keep reading to find out more about the other bloggers and to link up your style posts.
THE THEME
This month’s theme, “Back to School,” was selected by Leslie.
MY OUTFIT
Back to school was always my favorite time of the year. I used to love to take my kids shopping for outfits and school supplies. Well, everything except for backpacks. For some reason, backpack shopping really irritated me. But shopping for clothes and notebooks and pens and stuff? I loved it. I mean I totally geeked out on it and I still do.
Back then, when I was a young mom of 5, I dressed very modestly. Denim overalls, oversized tees, and combat boots {yes, the ones I wore when I was in the Army}. Other times, I wore sweats and tees “borrowed” from The Hubs. There weren’t any “style bloggers” sharing the latest fashions on Instagram. Nope, I relied on TV and magazines for my style tips. And the stuff they showed, just wasn’t conducive to my lifestyle.
Now that my kids are all grown and I feel a little more comfortable in my skin, I dress for me and my mood…
When I took these pictures, classes hadn’t started yet and I wasn’t quite ready to slip into work wear just for a couple of pictures. So I’m showing you my final look of the summer before the return to work…
So that’s it, my last fun fashion hurrah before we officially return to school {which actually started on Monday}.
