THE AGELESS STYLE LINKUP
Hi, welcome to the Ageless Style Linkup. The linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women over the age of 40 styling an outfit based on one theme, and, because we’re all so different, each theme interpretation is different. Each month, one of the co-hosts invites a guest co-host to join us for the linkup. Our goal is to show you that style is ageless…
This month’s theme is: “It’s all in the details” and was selected by Debbie from Fashion Fairy Dust. And if you follow Debbie on Instagram or have ever visited her blog, you know, this lady can take a plain white tee and make it look like a couture piece. She’s that good.
Our guest co-host, also selected by Debbie, is Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge.
MY LOOK
I have to keep telling myself to take deep breaths… I saw this blouse on QVC a few weeks ago and instantly fell head over heels, heart skipping, trip over my own feet in love. Yes, I realize it’s a blouse but it’s embroidered and it’s not a tunic and it’s just so light and airy and squee…
But I didn’t order it.
For about a week, it just sat in my virtual cart and then I made the decision to go ahead and buy it. But what color? Black or ivory. Black is my safe color. My default. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and get a color I almost never wear. So I closed my eyes and pressed “Confirm” on the ivory.
Y’all, I have never obsessed over a delivery like I did this one {ok, that’s not true… I was the same way when I ordered my camera and when I ordered my camera bag}, but let’s just pretend this was my first time stalking waiting for the mail person.
I just knew this blouse would be perfect for today’s post. I mean, this blouse is all about the details.
Look at that embroidery. Look. At. It. For a fun day time look, I knew instantly that I’d be pairing this top with a pair of wide legged trouser jeans and plain brown boots, with very little jewelry.
And for dinner with The Hubs, just a little wiggle off the shoulder and *BOOM*. I also have a sexy pair of sandals that would look totally hot with this top. Yeah, I’ll be styling this blouse again… So be prepared.

So, one of the fun things about Laurie Feltheimer {designer for Laurie Felt} is that she really wants to be involved with her customers and be responsive to their needs and wants; to that end, she and her team have created this wonderful community of women who share a love of fashion, life, and fun. This month, we’re talking about the idea of play and how we incorporate play into our daily lives.
I think as a woman over the age of forty {I’ll be forty-five in four days}, we tend to see play as something for kids. But that’s not necessarily true. Being playful is what makes us feel alive and keeps us healthy. For me, digging around in my closet and coming up with outfits and taking pictures of said outfits is like the grown-up version of playing dress up. Another way that I play is with The Hubs… *wink wink* Seriously, though, we have an RV and we love to go camping and exploring the community around us. Playing together has helped us to grow as a couple and as individuals.
So, my question for you is: HOW DO YOU PLAY? Leave a comment below, I’d love to read your answer.
