Caftan Jeans and Sandals {Living Outside the Stacks}

Have I mentioned how much I love caftans? I do. Seriously, Mrs. Roper had the right idea: throw on a colorful dress and call it a day. There’s no need to suck in, you don’t really have to worry about accessories {although she did wear some awesomely large bubble gumball necklaces}, and you’re comfortable all day long.

I’ve been in one of those moods where I haven’t really felt like wearing a skirt or dress {my normal work day choice}, so I opted for this caftan. It’s so colorful and boho glam that even though I was comfortable, I felt like I was dressed up more than usual.

My coworkers and other library patrons kept stopping me throughout the day and telling me how much they loved my top and how absolutely sure they were that I was the only one who could get away with wearing that to work. *snort*

I paired the caftan with a pair of flare leg jeans and sandals by Sseko Designs to keep with the laid back but dressy vibe. Normally, I don’t wear a lot of jewelry with this caftan because of the gold threading and the sequins but I decided to push the envelope a bit and layer on a few wooden bangles to disguise my Fitbit. I also added a necklace because why not?

I have worn this caftan as a dress before with a pair of sandals. Now that’s not easy to do. You kinda have to make sure that there’s very little wind. Or that you have on some serious underpinnings. I don’t wear it that way often. Only for special nights with The Hubs when I want to look a little va-va-voom.

Do you have a dress or top that you wear in an unconventional way? Where do you wear it?
