The Bible in 365 Days: Day 3 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 3:21 And the LORD God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. Observation The making of the clothing from animal skins was the first sacrifice, a foreshadowing of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sins. As a result of Adam’s and Eve’s disobedience, the just punishment should’ve been death but God showed mercy instead. Application God’s love and mercy is present even when we are willfully disobedient. This is not because we’re deserving of any special favors but because God loves us so much that He’s willing to give us a second {or third or fourth or fifth} chance. Prayer Dear…

The Bible in 365 Days: Day 2 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Observation Every time God finished creating something new, he looked at it and said it was good, meaning that the purpose it was intended to serve had been fulfilled. The sun and moon created light and day, the waters watered the earth to feed and nourish the plants and livestock, etc. The only creation that, upon completion, did not receive the seal of approval was the creation of man. Man, by himself, was incomplete. Man’s purpose was to tend the Garden of Eden…

The Bible in 365 Days: Day 1 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Observation God was very deliberate throughout the creation of the Heavens and the Earth. So it stands to reason that when He created man and woman, He was even more purposeful. Especially when I read that man and woman were created in the image of God. This means that there are no accidents, no mistakes…our creation was a very deliberate act. Application Last year, the opportunity for a promotion at work came up and I debated whether or not I should apply for it. It…

Throwback Thursday: Remember the Sabbath {In the Church}
Originally posted: 30 November 2011 Rush rush rush, it always seems like I’m in a hurry to catch up on stuff. That’s my life, 24/7. Whoa, wait! Did I just say 24/7? Yes, I did. And that’s a problem. The Lord tells us in Exodus 20:10 that the seventh day is the Lord’s day and on that day we nor anyone in our households are to do any work, that day is to be reserved for rest and worship, not for catching up on laundry or balancing the check book or whatever we come up with to do on that day. We are to observe the Sabbath by keeping it holy…

He is Risen {In the Church}
Happy Resurrection Sunday! Today I’m happy to proclaim that my redeemer lives. And because He lives, I have the gift of eternal life. This gift can be yours too. To receive it, all you have to do is confess with your mouth and believe with your heart that Jesus is Lord, then you are saved {Romans 10:9~10}.

No Greater Love {In the Church}
The hubs likes to say “love is not a feeling, it’s an action”; it demands the individual to do something that requires sacrifice on his or her part. Jesus set the example for love when he gave his life for us way back on calvary. John 15:13 says: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” Even in our sinful state, Jesus loved us enough to call us “friend” and take the punishment for our sins. And this was not just any death, this was a most brutal death. He was whipped, spit upon, beat up, battered, bloodied and then nailed to a…

The Turning Point {In the Church}
When I was about 8 or 9 years old, my family and I walked through the doors of Progressive Church of God in Christ in Colorado; at the end of the service, a group of kids walked up to us and introduced themselves. They were led by a young lady who would become my dearest friend and sister for life, Kim. For the years that my dad was stationed in Colorado, our lives were so intertwined with Kim’s that I hardly have a memory of those years without her being there. After we moved to Italy, we kept in touch for a while, but like with almost all childhood relationships…

My God is an Awesome God {In the Church}
When I was a teenager, my favorite adjective for anything I found good, fun, or positive was “awesome”. In fact, I used the word so often that it started to lose its meaning. You know how it is when you eat or drink something so much that it ceases to hold the value it once held? Well, that’s what happened to the word “awesome”. So I found other ways to express my joy and, gradually, the word slipped from my vocabulary and was replaced by other descriptors like “that’s great” or “wonderful”. That is, until I started connecting with people online, then it became easy to type a simple “awesome”…
