Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

Disclaimer: there isn’t anything about bees in this post, I just couldn’t think of another title that covered everything…

Last night I told The Hubs that I’m going to be a blubbering mess by the time the Obamas and Bidens leave the White House for the last time. Between the Farewell Address the Presidential Medal of Freedom and everything else that’s going on… I’m just done. I’ve tried not to cry. But I’ve ugly cried. I didn’t always agree with everything that President Obama did but I have always respected his integrity and his strength. I’ve admired his love and dedication to Mrs. Obama and to his daughters. I appreciate his relationship with Vice President Biden. No matter what your political leanings, you have to admit that this family is an example of what love is {seriously, have you ever seen the way the President looks at his wife???}.

Anyway, let me move on before I ruin my keyboard…

Are you planning anything for Valentine’s Day? The Hubs and I usually don’t do anything. We’re not big on gift giving holidays because we tend to buy for each other throughout the year. However, he has been asking for one thing. A lot. Especially since the girls have officially moved out and we now have the house to ourselves… He’s asked for some sexy photos of me. I’ve been shutting him down because, well, he sees me every day, so what’s the point in getting pictures? Well, it’s the same point that I make when I tell moms that they need to be in the photos with their kids and not just behind the lens. So, I’m going to do it. And I’m going to be using these tips from my friend and fellow photographer Lashawn at Everyday Eyecandy. I’ve started saving some ideas on Pinterest, feel free to follow along. You can also check out my board for couples {now that I’ve gotten The Hubs in front of the camera, maybe I can talk him into a couple of more photo shoots}.

I think everyone knows how I feel about birds. I hate them. I mean, I can appreciate pretty pictures of them, but I truly hate them. I think it’s a result of growing up in Italy and being surrounded by pigeons every time we went to Venice. It was freaky. So, anyway, I was in a local store when this happened…

Bird in the Store

Yeah, I realize it’s a grainy picture, but I wasn’t trying to get all fancy and focused. I wanted to take a snap shot and go. Is there an animal you really hate {tie between cats and birds} or love {monkeys}? That was the second animal related trauma I’ve had this week. Yesterday I finally brought in our Christmas wreath {in my defense, we rarely use the front door, so I didn’t even notice it until I had to grab a package} and a lizard was posing on the snowman’s hat. Yeah, there was a lot of screaming and scraping of furniture across the floors as I tried to capture it. I ended up catching him on the wreath and tossing the whole thing into the yard. It was quite the scene.

Guess I should add lizards to the list of animals I hate…

Talk to me, what’s going on in your world?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
