Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

Are you watching The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu? I have to admit, I got caught up in the hype and signed up for the one month free trial subscription so I could check it out. I remember reading the book in high school and watching the original movie some years later; both versions were mind blowing. So far, I’ve only watched the first episode but it was intense. I know people like to say things like that could never happen here, but I’m reading a book called The Women in the Castle and, oh my word, I can see how quickly and easily things can change and people can see things happen but not see them. I’ll be posting a review of The Women in the Castle on Monday, so you’ll see what I’m talking about. All I’m saying is pay attention to some of the rhetoric, the blatant lies, the vilification of the press, and the inability to accept responsibility for anything…

So, last week I asked for suggestions for a camera bag and, after a lot of searching, I found one that more than fits my needs. It’s the Journey from Shutterbag USA. Stay tuned for a full review. In the meantime, you can get a little peak of my bag by clicking here.

I’m always on the look out for a super quick and easy dinner recipe and this recipe for Shrimp Scampi from Lashawn at Everyday Eyecandy seems to fit the bill. It has been in the back of mind ever since I saw it posted on Twitter. I cannot wait to give it a try.

The semester is coming to an end which means we’re about to hit the summer schedule: Mondays through Thursdays we work 10 hour shifts and have Fridays off. Now that The Hubs and I have the trailer, I’m looking forward to the extended weekends. Does your place of work have summer hours?

Also, why is pickle juice soda a thing?

Now, it’s your turn… What’s going on in your world? Anything have you scratching your head or belly laughing? Is there a book I absolutely must add to my TBR Shelf? Have you cooked or ordered anything tasty?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
