Coffee Talk {Living Outside the Stacks}

Hi, and welcome to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

1. I love this video: “The heart remembers….”. Have your Kleenex handy.

2. Gwyneth Paltrow has decided that angering working moms is, ahem, child’s play; now she’s going after the military. In her latest woe~is~me~the~life~of~a~celeb~is~so~hard rant, she compared I won’t point out how absolutely ludicrous Ms. Paltrow’s comparison is because I think SFC. Bryan Sikes, a Green Beret, did it best here. Nor will I tell her to keep her opinions to herself, because it’s people like SFC Sikes and our other men and women in uniform who defend the rights of idiots to become internet fodder.

3. I’ve been waiting for the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes since the last cough during the closing credits in 2011…

I’ve been a fan of Planet of the Apes since I was a kid. It all goes back to my intense love for monkeys {yes, I know monkeys and apes are not the same thing, but let me have my moment…}.

4. Being without a cell phone is not fun. I broke mine over the weekend and I seriously feel as if I’m missing a limb. Well, maybe not quite that serious, but close enough. I really hadn’t realized how dependent I’d become on that little device until now. It stores my phone numbers, my pictures, my health info… It keeps tracks of how many calories I’ve eaten and how many I need to burn off. It’s my lifeline to my family. When I get my new one, I’m going to love it and squeeze it and call it Fred.

What had you scratchin’ your head this week?
