Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

1.  It has been nearly a week and I still haven’t recovered from Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead. For roughly fifteen minutes after the show ended I just sat there on my sofa, barely breathing, with The Hubs yelling: “It’s not real! He’s just a TV character!” He has no idea. I was stuck somewhere between what the heck just happened and where is my heart because it’s no longer beating inside my body?

Shout out to actress and TWD expert, Yvette Nicole Brown, who shook me out of my stupor by asking “Where’s Judith?”

Duuuude, where is she, indeed?

2. Did any of y’all watch the GOP debate on MSNBC Wednesday night? Where were the recess chaperones because that was some elementary schoolyard bullying crap that was going on right there… Where did those questions come from? Who were those moderators? Is this really what American politics has come to?  It seemed like the whole goal was to provoke the candidates and see if they could get an old fashioned “I know you are but what am I” slap fight going.

Kudos to {some of} the candidates for not taking the bait.

3. Dr. Phil is going to have former Florida journalist Rochelle Herman~Walrond on his show to discuss her recordings of her conversations with Jared Fogle about his raping of children. blank stare Why? Why does anyone except for those involved in prosecuting the case need to listen to him describe his abuse? Apparently, she was working with the FBI for over FIVE YEARS to gather evidence against Fogle. Wouldn’t the fact that he confessed to engaging in sexual activity with one child be enough to convict him? This just doesn’t make sense to me. But then, I also don’t understand why he’s only facing 5 to 12 years… Anyone, I cannot stress this enough, anyone who hurts a child should never be given the opportunity to walk free again.

4. OK, I’m just going to put this out there: I HATE HALLOWEEN. There, I said it. I hate the inappropriateness of the costumes. Seriously, why are little girls being dressed as sexy cops? But what I really hate is when I see something like this and then something like this. It’s not funny. It’s not cute. It’s stupid.

5. Earlier this week, my daughter asked me if I’d heard Adele’s new song “Hello”? I just looked at her, clutched my chest, and said “So many feels.”

Now it’s your turn, what’s been driving you up the wall this week?
