Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. If you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

Were you impacted by Hurricane Irma? The Hubs and I both work in Albany, Georgia and saw the reports that the hurricane was supposed to head our way, so we packed up and went to Mississippi. I’m grateful to report that there was minimal damage in our area, but ~ oh my word ~ the damage and destruction in Florida and the islands… My heart aches for those who’ve been impacted. If you are able and have it in your heart, please find and donate to a charity local to the communities that have been hurt.

While we’re talking about natural disasters and emergency preparedness, did you know that September is National Preparedness Month? When you get a chance, take a look at my month long series on what to do in case of an emergency. My prayer is that the event never arises where you find yourself in need, but if it does, I want you and your family to be prepared.

When will celebrities learn? Kate Hudson said in a Cosmo quiz that having a c section is the “laziest thing” she’s ever done. sigh While I’ve never had a c section, I do have friends who’ve had them and I can report there is nothing “lazy” about having major surgery. I wish people, especially other women, would stop knocking women who were unable to give birth vaginally. How about we celebrate the fact that they’ve given birth to a healthy child? By the way, the same goes for women who opt to bottle feed. Child birthing / rearing is not one size fits all.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but The Hubs and I are thinking about trying a meal delivery service {Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, etc.}. I’m just not sure which one we should try. Part of me wants to go with something vegetarian friendly so that we can try foods we wouldn’t otherwise try, but the other part of me wants to go with traditional meals so that we can learn to cook what we would normally eat in new ways. Have you ever tried one of those services? Thoughts?

Now, it’s your turn… What’s going on in your world? Anything have you scratching your head or belly laughing? Is there a book I absolutely must add to my TBR Shelf? Have you cooked or ordered anything tasty?

Cheers,

Daenel T {Living Outside the Stacks}
