I’m happy to announce that I’m the newest member of The Fab Forties. To say I’m excited and a bit intimidated would be an understatement, but I look forward to working with these ladies and showing you all just how fabulous your forties can be.
About the Fab Forties
The Fab Forties is a group of five style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Six different ladies, six different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.
The Theme
Goth Vibes, selected by Suzy from Pixie Chick in a Ponytail. Our guest co-host is Elizabeth from What Lizzie Loves.
My Outfit
Not gonna lie, Goth is not my jam. In fact, I had to call my daughter to get some tips and she suggested that I find something lacy and black, but stay within my comfort zone. I found a couple of items, but they weren’t work appropriate and, due my to work schedule, I had to find something that could transition from work to play for quick photo sessions.
A couple of days ago, I woke up and it was a little chilly outside, so I thought it’d be the perfect day to wear my “Librarian Dress” with tights and the cute faux suede Mary Jane wedges that I’d just purchased. Seriously, the reason I bought this dress is because I thought the lady on it looked like a librarian in silhouette. Anyway, when I took my morning coffee picture, I thought Hmmm, I look like a nerdy Wednesday Addams. And when I sent the picture to my daughter, she said the exact same thing! And that is how this outfit came to be.
l decided to change the look up a bit by adding fishnet tights and faux suede ankle booties. Now I’m Wednesday Addams all grown up! Because of the print on the dress and the bold white collar, I kept my jewelry to a minimum – just a simple pair of silver ball stud earrings. And, really, with those shoes and booties, I really didn’t need much else.
