Floral Dress Brown Skirt and Brown Wedges {living outside the stacks}

I’m not really what you’d call a fashion or style blogger, I’m more of a “so this morning I was thinking about this or that and I decided to write about it blogger”, so I was thrilled beyond belief when Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots asked me to join her and the rest of the Fab 40s ladies for this month’s challenge: Bohemian.

My personal style definitely leans towards the eclectic. I grew up in Italy and have lived all over the United States, so my fashion sense reflects those influences. I like a lot of color in muted tones and patterns – oh my word – I love patterns.
When Jennie told me about this month’s theme I wasn’t sure which way to go: should I go bohemian neutral (flowy top, faded jeans, and funky sandals) or bohemian bold (rich colors with funky sandals). I chose bohemian bold.

I purchased this dress at Target a few weeks ago for $4.95. Kid. You. Not. At first I was torn, is it a dress or is it a tunic? The receipt said “dress”, my comfort level said “tunic”. Now what to pair it with? Conventional wisdom would say keep the bottoms skinny and dark, but I’m not conventional. I paired the dress with a multi-layered skirt that I thrifted many years ago. I like how it creates a petticoat look.
I kept my jewelry to a minimum because the dress has so much going on. The colors in my necklace don’t necessarily match the dress {I’m not a big matchy-matchy person} but it does go with, which I love.
 Last, but not least, the shoes are just plain fun. I mean, who doesn’t love a wedge? It gives the height and sass without the fear of falling.
Thank you again for inviting me to join you all. I look forward to seeing your interpretations of the theme.
