Hi, how are y’all doing? We’re OK. We spent most of the weekend just hanging out around the house. I rearranged the furniture in my office and The Hubs hung some shelving up for me. I hope to get some of my pictures printed soon, I want to sit them on the shelf along with a few of my vintage cameras. I’ll post pictures once everything is completed. ABOUT THE FAB FORTIES The Fab Forties is a group…

    Brown Boots and a Recipe {Shoe Style Saturday}

    13 October 2012 / 14 Comments

    Happy Saturday! Do you have plans for this weekend? So far, I got nothin’. I may talk the hubs into visiting some more antique shops downtown. We’ve been doing that a lot lately. I’m totally digging the idea of upcycling and repurposing things. And the hubs is really getting in to it too. In fact, one of our favorite places right now is a little shop called Annie Laurie’s Antiques. You can read all about it by clicking here. This is our living room, the space we’re currently trying to decorate… I love the wall color and the wood ceiling. At first, I thought it’d be a little too cabiney…

    Brown Sneakers {Shoe Style Saturday}

    14 September 2012 / 7 Comments

    Hi! Welcome to my space on the web, I hope you’ll join me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. This picture was taken outside the hotel in Columbia, Missouri where I stayed while at an ebook retreat. The shoes are scuffy ol’ sneaks that I usually only wear when I’m traveling or working around the house. They’re not particularly attractive, but they serve their purpose. Really, you’d think with all the shoes I have that I’d have at least one comfy yet cute pair. And just for a some fun, how about a little game of “If I Were…”? If I were a gemstone, I’d be a piece of Amber If I were a…

    Red Cowboy Boots {Shoe Style Saturday}

    1 September 2012 / 5 Comments

    So much has happened in the two weeks that I’ve been offline… First, let’s talk about those boots, shall we? Aren’t they fantabulous? Ever since we moved to the South I’ve been dying to get a pair of cowboy boots. Full southern experience, y’all…. Anyway, I picked these beauties up at a cute little consignment shop called The Clothes Line for all of $8.75! Score! The most exciting thing is that we’ve moved into a new house. Honest to goodness, this is our dream home. From the colors to the carpet to the front porch, everything about this place feels like it was custom made for us. I cannot wait…

    Embroidered Slippers {Shoe Style Saturday}

    18 August 2012 / 2 Comments

    Look at my beautiful slippers. I stared at them, hoping I could save them but I think it’s safe to say they can’t be helped… I hated to toss them because they were so beautiful ~ the embroidery, the bead work, etc. I wish I were crafty and could have thought of a way to repurpose them. Have you ever repurposed shoes? Or do you simply toss them when they are no longer functional? Where did your shoes take you this week? To participate in Shoe Style Saturday, all you have to do is: take a picture of your shoes post them to your blog, flickr or tumblr if you…

    Gold Gladiator Sandals {Shoe Style Saturday}

    10 August 2012 / 8 Comments

    Another week has come to an end. sigh This is our last week of short days at the library. During the summer we work from 8 AM to 4 PM and during the school year we work from 8 AM to 5 PM. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but that hour really does make a difference. But I’m thinking time should pass quickly, since the students are coming back on campus at the end of the week, the work load will pick up so here’s hoping, right? A few weeks ago, I was in the thrift store and I found this chair. Something about it called my name…

    Blue Thong Sandals {Shoe Style Saturday}

    4 August 2012 / 8 Comments

    See those thongs? I picked them because the color just screamed”Take me home, we’ll have lots of fun together!” So I did. Big honkin’ mistake. I wore them to work and half way through the day I ended up putting on my walking shoes that keep under my desk for midday walks. My feet were killing me. I know those types of shoes have a break in period but ohmyword that was just painful. I’ve always lived by the mantra of “Fashion over function” but if your feet hurt, there’s nothing you can do to make the day better… In other news, I’ve been doing really well with the August…

    Yellow Wedges {Shoe Style Saturday}

    28 July 2012 / 6 Comments

    This was a pretty long week. I don’t know if I mentioned it here, but we’re in the process of trying to buy a new home and, lemme tell ya, the process is exhausting. The hubs and I are a realtor’s dream, we know what we want, we find it and we get it. We accept that houses will have things wrong, even new homes, we call it “character”. We try not to nit pick, we talk about changing the things we can and dealing with what we can’t. It’s just that simple… So this week has been dealing with the butterflies and dragonflies flittering in my stomach while we…

    Black Bow Flats {Shoe Style Saturday}

    21 July 2012 / 0 Comments

    Black Bow Flats: Kmart Yesterday ended my first week at the library. While some things are still pretty new, in many ways it feels like I’ve always been there. Don’t you just love when you ease into a new place and instantly feel comfortable? Most of this week was spent with housekeeping ~ enrolling in benefits, getting my email set up, cleaning up my office, etc. Next week, I hope to actually get into the business of running my department ~ getting some training, finding out exactly what everyone in my department does, etc. Oh, you don’t know what I do? Well, my title is “Library Associate” but what I…

    RV Hunting {Shoe Style Saturday}

    9 June 2012 / 5 Comments

    Hi, everyone! I hope you’ve had a pleasant week. Things have been going really well over here. So many exciting things are happening: I was selected to be one of 50 female bloggers to join Team #Cinchspiration in a weight loss blogging program (you can read about that here). I’m going to need lots of cheerleaders, so please join me on Facebook, Pinterest and/or Twitter. Today the hubs and I went RV hunting. This has been a long time dream of his. I, on the other hand, have been horrified at the idea of peeing in the back of a bus. That is until he took me to the RV park today. Whoa…  I was…
