House Tour: The Dining Room & Kitchen
Hi, and welcome to my home. I hope you’ll enjoy your visit… This is truly the heart of our home. We do everything in this space: eat, talk, laugh, pay bills, cry over said bills… We have a dining room/kitchen combo, which I absolutely love. I’ve found that as my kids have gotten older, I prefer the informal setting of a combination area. I like being part of the action. The hubs surprised me with the dining room table a while back. Long story short, he had given mine away with the promise of a new one… Skip ahead 6 months and we were still eating our meals at a…

House Tour: The Foyer
Hi, and welcome to my home. I hope you’ll enjoy your visit… The console table is from Annie Laurie’s Antiques. If you’re ever in the area, you really need to pay her a visit, she has some of the most unique items. In fact, if you come back for another visit, you’ll see a few other items from her store that I’ve placed around the house. Have you ever received a gift from one of your kids and wondered What in the world am I gonna do with this? That’s how I felt about that lamp when it was given to me by Mr. Seventeen. I think he was all…

House Tour: The Foyer
Hi, and welcome to my home. I hope you’ll enjoy your visit… My foyer is separated in to two parts, so I’m going to split the tour into two separate posts. The foyer is one entry way but there are two walls with two focal areas. What you’re seeing today is the area you see as soon as you walk enter the house. Since moving to Missouri, the hubs and I have discovered that we absolutely love shopping at antique stores, thrift shops, and yard sales. So many of the things that we’ve used to accessorize our home are “found” and/or reclaimed items. I think this gives our home a little more…

Granny Square Afghan {In the Craft Room}
For about a year and half, the hubs has been telling me that I need to make something for the house. And each time he says it, I agree and then I pack up whatever project I’ve been working on and I ship it off to a new home. My intent wasn’t to ignore him, it’s just that people would see what I was working on and want it so I’d give it away. But when we moved into our new home and started decorating, I knew I wanted to make something, I just wasn’t sure what. The hubs suggested a blanket for nights when we cuddle on the sofa…

Brown Boots and a Recipe {Shoe Style Saturday}
Happy Saturday! Do you have plans for this weekend? So far, I got nothin’. I may talk the hubs into visiting some more antique shops downtown. We’ve been doing that a lot lately. I’m totally digging the idea of upcycling and repurposing things. And the hubs is really getting in to it too. In fact, one of our favorite places right now is a little shop called Annie Laurie’s Antiques. You can read all about it by clicking here. This is our living room, the space we’re currently trying to decorate… I love the wall color and the wood ceiling. At first, I thought it’d be a little too cabiney…

Succulent Garden {Decorating}
This morning I woke up with one goal in mind ~ buy a succulent garden. I’ve always loved succulents. Actually, I’ve always loved plants but since I became a card carrying member of the Serial Plant Killers Anonymous Club, I’ve banned myself from buying any. But then I started spending an inordinant amount of time perusing succulent gardens on Pinterest and I decided that I had to have one. Not wanted but needed to have one. And my justification was that this little garden would look beautiful on my new coffee table once it finally arrives. Hello, week 3 of no living room furniture. Do you know how hard it…

Summer Colors {Photography}
Right now I’m obsessed with colors. I’m talking about bright colors that scream summer. I think it’s the change of seasons but I really want to update my living room. Right now it’s done in browns with muted creams, greens and burgundies… Nice for fall and winter but for spring and summer not so much. Do you redecorate seasonally or do you decorate once and let it be?

New House Tour: The Living Room
I love my new house. One of the things I knew I wanted in our new place was a lot of light. I wanted to be able to take photographs inside without running around, gathering lamps from all over the house and then aiming them at my subject. I also wanted a fireplace. I may not ever use it but I wanted one. I just think they add warmth to the living space. I wasn’t sure if my old world eclectic style from the old house would fit in this house (click here to see pictures of the old house) but the hubs was convinced everything would work. And, I…
