Blogging from A to Z April Challenge: Fancy Footwear
Something happened that I never ever believed would happen to me… I became a Crocs convert. For years, my family has been telling me that I needed a pair of Crocs. “They’re comfortable.” “They’re convenient.” “They’ve updated the styles.” But I just couldn’t do it. “Crocs are so ugly,” I’d laugh as I shook my head wildly. Then I decided to start a garden; I needed a pair of shoes that I could wear in the yard without worrying about destroying. I needed something that could stand up to rainy conditions, so I started searching different online stores and happened upon the Crocs store. And that’s where I found them.…

A Quote About Shoes {This or That Thursday}
I know I’ve mentioned that I’m doing theĀ 365 Project: 2013 EditionĀ but did I mention that I’m also doing the 52 Week Project: 2013 Edition? I know, I’m a glutton for punishment. I didn’t even come close to finishing last year but this year will be different. This year I’m celebrating my 40th year of life by documenting life. Anyway, last week’s theme was “Quote”. So I shared my favorite quote with a pair of my favorite shoes (A gift from my mother. I know, right?) This photo wasn’t my original intent but I’m more than thrilled with the final outcome. And it sums up how I feel about shoes perfectly.…

Red Cowboy Boots {Shoe Style Saturday}
So much has happened in the two weeks that I’ve been offline… First, let’s talk about those boots, shall we? Aren’t they fantabulous? Ever since we moved to the South I’ve been dying to get a pair of cowboy boots. Full southern experience, y’all…. Anyway, I picked these beauties up at a cute little consignment shop called The Clothes Line for all of $8.75! Score! The most exciting thing is that we’ve moved into a new house. Honest to goodness, this is our dream home. From the colors to the carpet to the front porch, everything about this place feels like it was custom made for us. I cannot wait…

Embroidered Slippers {Shoe Style Saturday}
Look at my beautiful slippers. I stared at them, hoping I could save them but I think it’s safe to say they can’t be helped… I hated to toss them because they were so beautiful ~ the embroidery, the bead work, etc. I wish I were crafty and could have thought of a way to repurpose them. Have you ever repurposed shoes? Or do you simply toss them when they are no longer functional? Where did your shoes take you this week? To participate in Shoe Style Saturday, all you have to do is: take a picture of your shoes post them to your blog, flickr or tumblr if you…

Black Bow Flats {Shoe Style Saturday}
Black Bow Flats: Kmart Yesterday ended my first week at the library. While some things are still pretty new, in many ways it feels like I’ve always been there. Don’t you just love when you ease into a new place and instantly feel comfortable? Most of this week was spent with housekeeping ~ enrolling in benefits, getting my email set up, cleaning up my office, etc. Next week, I hope to actually get into the business of running my department ~ getting some training, finding out exactly what everyone in my department does, etc. Oh, you don’t know what I do? Well, my title is “Library Associate” but what I…

RV Hunting {Shoe Style Saturday}
Hi, everyone! I hope youāve had a pleasant week. Things have been going really well over here. So many exciting things are happening: I was selected to be one of 50 female bloggers to join Team #Cinchspiration in a weight loss blogging program (you can read about thatĀ here). Iām going to need lots of cheerleaders, so please join me onĀ Facebook,Ā PinterestĀ and/orĀ Twitter. Today the hubs and I went RV hunting. This has been a long time dream of his. I, on the other hand, have been horrified at the idea of peeing in the back of a bus. That is until he took me to the RV park today. Whoa…Ā I was…

Goldy Bronzey Gladiator Sandals {Shoe Style Saturday}
Those are my goldy bronzey gladiatoresque shoes. I absolutely adore them. I’ve never owned metallic shoes before, I was never quite sure how to get those silvers and golds to fit into my wardrobe. Of course now I understand that you have to treat metallics like a neutral and let them be your statement piece all at the same time. Such a delicate balance we wanna be Shoe~a~nistas walk!Ā Do you like that word? I made it up. This week was spent trying to find our summer groove. My kids are older so I don’t really have to entertain them much but I don’t want them just sitting around the house…

Not My Shoes {Shoe Style Saturday}
Have you ever been out and about and saw someone wearing the most fabulous pair of shoes and thought “Wow! I love those.”? That’s what happened to me the other day when Miss 18 and I were hanging out at the Cup N’ Cork. This lady walked into the coffee house with these beautiful sparkly shoes and I was all “Duuude, those are cute” to my daughter… You guys know I’m attracted to anything shiny. So I walked over to the lady and asked if I could take picture Weird, I know and, not only did she say “Yes” but she totally struck a pose for me. As much as…

Brown Wedges {Shoe Style Saturday}
It seems like I live in these brown wedges. They’re just so incredibly comfortable. In fact, I have a black pair just like them that I actually wear just as often. I will, at some point, get a picture of myself wearing them for proof. Yesterday I wore those wedges to Miss 15’s school. Her teacher sent us an email letting us know that our daughter was getting an award for her hard work and dedication in her English class. She was also Student of the Term this year… Anyway, Miss 15 didn’t know about the award or about our visit, so she was pretty surprised when she looked over…

Shoe Style Saturday
I thought boot wearing weather had come to an end. Does boot wearing weather every really come to an end though? It’s bordered on freezing here. OK, slight exaggeration but after the near 80s we were having, the 50s and 60s feels kinda frigid. Has the weather done a sudden flip where you are too? Even with the cool weather, I did get out and do a bit of wandering around the area with my camera in tow. The Mississippi Riverfront is one of my fave places to go when I wanna just people watch or take some pictures of different architectural settings. Have I told you how much I…
