Hey, Friends! How are you doing? I’m OK. It’s Wednesday night and I’m sitting here watching HSN for inspiration. Do you do that? I watch the fashion and accessories shows on the home shopping channels to see how they style different pieces. I also like the conversations that the hosts have with their guests, sometimes they’re pretty funny. Other times, they’re pretty inspirational.

WHAT I WORE

I big puffy heart these earrings. When I first bought them, I wasn’t sure how I’d wear them, but they’ve proven to be THE most versatile pair in my earring wardrobe. Why? Because they’re black and silver and black and silver go with everything. They also have that funky little design to them that just adds a little pizzaz to whatever I’m wearing.

And while we’re talking about bracelets, look at that stack on my arm. I love beaded bracelets and, although I have plenty of other bracelets, will wear this stack 95% of the time. Why? Because most of them were gifts and some were handmade by people I love {and who love me}.

The base layer of my outfit is this Encore print dress by Zuri. I love the print and the colors — in some ways, it reminds me of my Army days. I also kind of get a 1920s vibe from the print. What do you think? Glam Army or Vintage Glam?

On a related note, if you’re looking to purchase ethically made, versatile dresses, you cannot go wrong with a dress from Zuri. Zuri is a woman owned business, who are working to create a sustainable economy in Kenya, by:

  • paying a living wage
  • supporting women
  • creating ethical and sustainable dresses with limited waste

These dresses can be worn as dresses, dusters, or tunics. Versatility, y’all. And they release new patterns every Tuesday.

I’d been anti-blazer for years, but I’ve become a recent convert. Blazers give shape and depth to an outfit. They also add a pop of color or a grounding color, depending to a whatever you’re wearing. In this case, the black acts as a grounding color by pulling out the black in the dress. If I’d wanted a splash of color, I could’ve opted for a red, navy, or even deep purple blazer.

This blazer caught my eye because of the longer length and ruched sleeves. I also like the clean front.

See how the blazer pulls the look together? Yes, I could’ve worn the dress as is {or added a belt}, but adding a blazer makes the dress pop, don’t you think?

WHERE I WORE IT

I wore this to work at the community college where I’m a library director. On this particular day, I knew I’d be meeting with the chancellor and taking pictures of a few of our business partners, so I wanted to look professional and have room to move. This outfit gave all of that.
