As usual, I’m late posting this because that’s who I am now. I really meant to have my pictures edited and sent to Salazar by the deadline, but this week {along with lateness being my new thing} has been rough. Actually, the past two and a half weeks have been awful. I woke up one morning with a burning throat. Not sore, but buuuuuurning. I felt like I’d swallowed fire. And no matter how much cold water I drank, I couldn’t alleviate the burning. By the end of the day, I was hoarse, sneezing, and coughing. Every part of my body ached and I was exhausted. My COVID test came back negative, so whatever it was had me begging for mercy. By the end of the week, my daughter was sick too. She’s over it, but I still have lingering crud. So far, The Hubs has been spared. Although, he was out of town for two weeks, so he came home at the tail end of all of this *waves hands wildly*.
So, here we are, late.
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}, and Terri {Meadow Tree Style}. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of them selects an inspiration image and they each post the image on their blogs. The following Monday, they share their art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE INSPIRATION PIECE
“Summer Sales Quickly Reached By Underground” by Mary Koop
WHAT I WORE
When I first saw the inspiration piece, I knew I wanted to wear my Goddess Free to Be Tunic because LOOK AT IT. All of the patches so perfectly mimic the patchwork of umbrellas in the poster. A total burst of color and pattern, no?
This tunic is made from reclaimed vintage silk saris. Some of the patches have bits of embroidery, some have sequins, thus contributing to the uniqueness of each piece. And it has pockets. Y’all, I still get excited over pockets.
Another reason I like this top is because it’s versatile. Because it’s a button front top, it can be unbuttoned and worn as a blazer replacement over a black dress or a skirt and tank top.
I chose minimal accessories because there’s just so much going on with this top. A pair of leather earrings and my usual bracelets, no necklace.
I don’t wear jeans as often as I used to, but when I do, few things make me happier than these distressed jeans. They’re just so comfortable.
While I opted to wear this top with distressed jeans for Saturday errands, if I wanted to wear this top to work, I’d pair it with black slacks and clogs. Blue pants {or any color, really} would also look cute.
WHERE I WORE IT
It was a Saturday, so I was running errands and hanging around the house. A lady at the grocery store stopped her car to tell me how much she liked my top.
