If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I basically live off coffee. I started drinking coffee when I was about 11 years old…
My sisters and I grew up in Italy, where my dad was a member of the U.S. Air Force as well as the pastor of the Gospel Service at Vicenza. I don’t know how much you know about being a minister, but it involves a lot of talking and “being there” for people. Well, when you’re a kid, that can get exhausting and boring. Often times, we were left to sit in the car or wander around the church while our parents talked to people. Every Sunday after services, there were usually refreshments: punch, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and some type of pastries.
One particular Sunday, my parents got involved in some deep conversation and all of the drinks ran out except for the coffee. It was love at first sip…
I also have wonderful memories of my grandmother, sitting at her kitchen table, cigarette in one hand and a coffee cup in the other, talking smack while she, my aunt, and I watched Dynasty. That was our show. We also watched Dallas, Knots Landing, and Falcon Crest. But Dynasty was the one that brought the three of us to the table and it was the one time I almost felt like an adult.
Anyway, I thought I’d share some of my favorite coffee t-shirts and a little about how my love of coffee started.
Are there any foods or drinks that remind you of when you were a kid? Is there a food you hated as a kid that you love now?
