This year I’m participating in three different photography challenges. I know, I know. I do this every year and by the middle of February I tap out. Well, this year is different. These are 52 week projects, so I’m only obligated to take 3 photos a week instead of 1 photo a day. You see, the problem with 1 photo a day is there’s a lot of pressure. And that pressure can be overwhelming, especially when you want to make sure that the photos you post are decent.

With these projects, I’m easing the pressure and focusing less on perfection and more on picking up my camera {last year, I went months without shooting anything} and being creative. I also want to do a better of job of documenting my life. Looking back, that’s probably one of my biggest regrets: I didn’t take enough pictures of my kids when they were little and I didn’t take enough pictures of The Hubs and me through the years. I want to change that.

So here they are: pictures from the challenges and the memories attached…

Today my nephews suckered me into trying these spicy things. My eyes watered and my face turned red. They laughed hysterically.

Off Prompt

Week 10 Off Prompt {living outside the stacks}

My sister had an emergency hysterectomy two days before this photo was taken. When I think of how close I came to losing my sister, all I can do is give glory to Jesus for the doctors who saved her life and a big heap of gratitude to The Hubs who drove me to be with her.

You can watch a video that she made about the process by clicking here.

Did you notice a trend with this month’s photos? Yes! They’re all black and white. I don’t know what’s going on with me, but I’m totally digging black and white photography. In fact, I’m loving it so much that I’ve decided to make this month all about black and white. I think it’s just so emotive and moody. You can see my collection of black and white photos by clicking here. What do you think?

If you’re on Instagram, I’d love for you to give me a shout out. I’m @DaenelT. And if you’re a book lover, I post book photos using @livingoutsidethestacks.
Happy Snapping,
