This year I’m participating in three different photography challenges. I know, I know. I do this every year and by the middle of February I tap out. Well, this year is different. These are 52 week projects, so I’m only obligated to take 3 photos a week instead of 1 photo a day. You see, the problem with 1 photo a day is there’s a lot of pressure. And that pressure can be overwhelming, especially when you want to make sure that the photos you post are decent.

With these projects, I’m easing the pressure and focusing less on perfection and more on picking up my camera {last year, I went months without shooting anything} and being creative. I also want to do a better of job of documenting my life. Looking back, that’s probably one of my biggest regrets: I didn’t take enough pictures of my kids when they were little and I didn’t take enough pictures of The Hubs and me through the years. I want to change that…

Last year, my husband’s ex~wife passed away from cancer and my mom was diagnosed with a chronic illness both of those events made me so much more aware of the need to celebrate life and document it.

So here they are: pictures from the challenges and the memories attached…

Week 1 Documentary {living outside the stacks}

This is a new style for me. I think it works better if you use stealth photography… I set up the camera and let it snap while I wandered around so that he’d be less aware of me. I also need to work on my black and white photography.

I’m starting 2017 with another photography challenge. I don’t do well with these because lazy. This is once a week. I can do this.

Week 1 Times They Are A Changin {living outside the stacks}

Last year was a hard year for my family but we came through smiling hard and loving harder. This year, we are determined to count it all joy and celebrate each blessing.

What are you doing this year to move out of your comfort zone? How can I cheer you on?

Happy Snapping,
