ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shrine in Shiraz Iran by Salazar

Salazar  took this picture of the Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shrine during her vacation to Shiraz, Iran. Isn’t it absolutely beautiful? You can read more about the shrine here.

This image provides so many opportunities: greens, golds, blacks, browns, sequins gasp, and embroidery.

What do you think you’ll wear? I can’t wait to see!

THE CURATOR

This week’s inspiration piece was curated by Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey. Salazar’s blog is all about her attempt at adding more color to her life and wardrobe.

JOIN US

You don’t have to have a blog to join, you can share your images on Instagram as well! Just tag Kim, Salazar, and me or use the hashtag #StyleImitatingArt so we know you’re there.

Now go play in your closet,
