Welcome to another week of Style Imitating Art, where we draw our style inspiration from works of art. This week’s selection was curated by Jen from Librarian for Life and Style.

STYLE IMITATING ART INSPIRATION

“Papauer I ‘Morpheus’ [Memorial Day Poppy]”

“Papauer I ‘Morpheus’ [Memorial Day Poppy]”

Jen curated this week’s selection in honor of Memorial Day, an American holiday that celebrates those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. After World War II the National American Legion adopted the poppy as their official symbol of remembrance.

Jen notes the 18th century illustration is “simple yet bold…” I agree, the colors and lines are striking in their simplicity. And the colors lend themselves to some fun clothing options.

You can read more about it here.

MY LOOK

Hey, I hope y’all are having a great week so far. Things have been moving for us at lightening speed as we prep for our move to Louisiana. I can’t believe we’re down to less than a month before we leave Georgia. But I’m so ready to get on with the next stage in our lives. Which will, of course include some fun and fabulous outfits…

I wore this outfit to work for a casual Friday. The cardigan has been in my sweater drawer for a few years. It kinda has a handmade vintage feel, don’t you think?

I cannot stress how much I love this green bag. It was one of my first designer bag purchases and it has been worth every penny. The hobo style lets me carry everything I need {Including my camera} without being all big and bulky. And the color is the perfect neutral.

I don’t know if you have to wear or carry your IDs for work, but we have to keep ours on us {printing, paying for food, etc.}, so I wear mine on a lanyard. This lanyard works as both a necklace and a lanyard with a simple clip. You can see my review of lanyards/necklaces here {they’re so much more stylish than the nylon lanyards}.

Do you own a pair of leopard print flats? If not, stop reading this and run to the store right now. No, wait, I’ll save you the trouble, just click here. You’ll wear these with everything – solids, prints, pastels, jewel tones, etc.
