Welcome to Style Imitating Art.Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

This week’s work of art was chosen by Terri.

Terri chose this “…work by Canadian artist Tom Thomson. It is “Snow Shadows”, oil on wood, and painted in 1916. I just wanted something snowy for December and love the colors and impasto in this work.”

I chose this outfit because I thought the colors matched the those in the inspiration piece and because the peplum top is one of my favorite pieces. I don’t normally wear woven button-front tops, but when I saw this one for sale, I had to have it. It’s described as an animal print, but I think it’s everything but — it looks floral and abstract and funky and everything in between. I also like that it’s long enough to wear with leggings, but not so long that it’s overwhelming, know what I mean?

Overall, I think this is one of my favorite looks because it’s just so easy and effortless. The colors flow and the material is lightweight and comfortable for Louisiana’s cool mornings and warm afternoons.

I wore this outfit to work at the library. It was one of those days when I didn’t have anything meetings on my schedule, but I still wanted to look put together. Not gonna lie, there are days when my calendar is empty and I wear a cardi with a library themed tee and a pair of business casual bottoms.

Outfit inspiration can come from anywhere: art, nature, Pinterest, all you have to do is look around.
