    My Photography Project: The Graduate

THE GRADUATE  I met Nakia my first day on the job as the new librarian at the college. She came in with a group of practical nursing students and they were trying to print their handouts before the start of classes. She looked at me and asked “Are you our new librarian?” I told her I was and she said she was happy I was there because the school had been without a librarian for a while. From that point on, every time I saw her, she would yell: “Hey, Ms. Dani!” When she asked me if I’d take her graduation pictures I teared up and told her I would……

    Mother’s Day Photo Dump: Arkansas

Y’all, I got to spend Mother’s Day with my daughter, her boyfriend, and her pups, and I couldn’t have been happier. They treated me like a queen — homemade cinnamon rolls and mimosas for breakfast, shrimp and grits for dinner, and a photo walk… It was relaxing, therapeutic, enlightening, and everything in between.               Whenever I travel, I like to take pictures of the public library. The buildings are almost always quite interesting architecturally and the light tends to be beautiful. However, the Argenta Branch of the William F. Laman Public Library was closed… Maybe next time. There’s always a bar called “The Library.”…

    365 Project: April 2021

And that’s a wrap on another month of pictures… I feel like I did more than drink coffee in April… Let’s see, I finally finished The Street. It was a long book but a good one. So much of Ann Petry’s words are still relevant today. I’ll write a review in the near future. The Hubs and I took a concealed carry course and are now qualified/licensed to conceal carry. I took some graduation pictures for my coworker’s daughter, you can see one of my favorites here. What was the highlight of your month? My Photography Project: The Power Suit

Nikon D850 + 50mm | ISO 1000, 1/2500, f/4.5 The people who make you smile from just seeing them, those are my favorite people. – Koi Fresco This is an image from a photo shoot that I did for a coworker. The whole time we were together, we could not stop laughing. I think that’s part of the reason these images came out so beautifully. I mean, Mrs. Liz is beautiful but her smile and her confidence are palpable. And I feel like I was able to capture that and so much more. Whenever I’m preparing for a shoot, one of the first things I do is find out the…

    365 Project: March 2021

And that’s a wrap on another month of pictures… The Hubs and I celebrated 26 years this month. Our celebrations were low-key. We’ve never been one of those go all out and celebrate one day kind of couples because, well, every day demands a bit of pomp and circumstance, don’t you think? My sister and I flipped the page to chapter 48. I can’t believe we’re 48. There are times when I feel like a kid playing dress up, I almost never feel like a full-fledged adult with my crap together. I hugged my parents courtesy of God’s grace and hardworking scientists. My mom has been ill for the last…

    My Photography Project: Music I

Nikon D7500 + 35mm f/1.8G @ 18mm, ISO 1000, 1/40, f/6.3 Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting, it’s encouraging. It’s strengthening. – Aretha Franklin This is an image from a recent shoot that I did with a friend for her birthday… I was so nervous. She arranged for us to shoot at a theater and it was beyond intimidating. I was so nervous that I almost cancelled. When I make images for work there are no expectations. I shoot what I…

    365 Project: February 2021

Because I took the time to make a badge for January and I wanna share it… LOL When I first started this project, I’d initially planned to post weekly. Well, life happened and here we are… A month of photos. At some point, things will settle down and I can start shooting and sharing regularly again. I am, however, holding steady with my 52 Week Project on Flickr. But now that I’ve said that, I’ll probably start to slack off on that too. deep sigh Happy Snapping,     LET’S CONNECT             Follow Living Outside the Stacks on Bloglovin’!
