    Bleu Chrys is on Instagram

I’ve finally done it. I created an Instagram account for Bleu. I don’t have small kids anymore, but I still need to practice my photography skills, so I’ve commissed Bleu as my model. Don’t worry, she’ll be paid generously in treats and belly rubs. Please Adopt. Don’t Shop. Best,     LET’S CONNECT           Follow Living Outside the Stacks on Bloglovin’!

    Bleu Wednesday: Her Story

unedited. Nikon D7500 | 15mm | f/5 | 1/125 | ISO – 1000 Sunday, ‎18 August ‎2019, ‏‎7:40:00 AM   edited. Do you remember Wordless Wednesday? It was a big thing when I first started blogging a bizillion light years ago. Bloggers would simply post a picture on Wednesdays. No words. No descriptions. Just a picture. It was a way to practice our photography and update our blogs without the stress of having to come up with full blown content. But, mostly, it was a way to connect and share a moment in our lives. I miss those days. The days before everyone was focused on monetization and accumulating follows.…

Macro May: My Favorites So Far

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m participating in another photography challenge. #MacroMay, specifically. I know. I know. I haven’t finished any of the other challenges that I’ve started, but I really wanted to do this one.  Here are a few of my favorites so far: 1 May: Spiderweb with Dew Drops 9 May: My Favorite Flower 16 May: Nailed It I don’t own a macro lens, so I shot everything with my 50mm. In a bit of unexpected happiness, this photo was chosen by Lucy Ketchum for a feature on Macro Moms. I’m still excited.  Happy Snapping,     Follow Living Outside the Stacks on Bloglovin’!

    Week 11: Photographer’s Choice

Welcome to week eleven of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. This week’s prompt is Photographer’s Choice. OK, ok, I know I’ve skipped a few weeks but, hopefully, I’m back. Anyway, this should be the beginning of week twelve, but I wanted to share this photo so… The Hubs and I celebrated our 24th anniversary a week ago and The Hubs had roses delivered to my job. Flowers, candy, a balloon, and a teddy bear. So sweet. I took a lot of pictures of the roses because I couldn’t take them home because The Hubs is terribly allergic.…

    Week 8: Winter

Welcome to week eight of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. This week’s prompt is Winter. I know this isn’t a typically winter scene, but it is our winter. SOOC I took this at the SkillsUSA Competition at my school. I’d never heard of this until last week. Welders from different technical schools in the area came to our school to compete against each other. They take a series of written and welding skills tests – it’s so very cool. From what I understand, the nursing students also compete against each other in much the same way. EDITED…

    Week 7: Love

Welcome to week seven of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. Bollinger Mill Covered Bridge This is a photo from the archives, but it’s one of my favorites. You can see other images from the Bollinger Mill Covered Bridge by clicking here. When I lived in Missouri, I used to go to the mill to think. And take pictures. Back then my photos relied heavily on editing rather than skill. I can see the difference between how I shot then and how I shoot now. I wish I had the opportunity to go back and shoot again. I…

    Week 5: Nature

Welcome to week five of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. Anyway, as promised, I’m showing the Straight Out of Camera {SOOC} image too, so you can see what I started with and how it ended. SOOC Nikon D7500 | 35mm | f 1.8 | 1/125 | ISO 400 EDITED Straightened, cropped, and enhanced in Lightroom Watermark added in PicMonkey I was outside talking to The Hubs as he was getting ready to leave for work when I spotted this web in the corner of our carport. I ran inside, grabbed my camera and a water bottle and…

    Week 5: Rule of Thirds

Welcome to week five of my Project 52: 2019 Edition. If you’d like to see the prompts that I’m using, read this post. Anyway, as promised, I’m showing the Straight Out of Camera {SOOC} image too, so you can see what I started with and how it ended. SOOC Nikon D7500 | 35mm |f /1.8 | 1/160 | ISO 400 This was taken outside in my backyard, late evening, overcast skies. The Hubs was working on the RV and Squeekerz was begging to go back inside. He’s a diva and won’t sit on the grass or the concrete. Camping with him is a lot of fun. That being said, I…
