Back in the Saddle Again
Tonight I attended the New Adjunct Faculty Orientation at the university where I’ll be teaching. Yay! Can I tell you how excited I am to be back in the saddle classroom again? I truly enjoy teaching and interacting with students, I think I learn just as much in the process as they do. For me, learning is a collaborative experience between the students and the instructor. If I stand in front of the students droning on and on about whatever, they learn absolutely nothing but when the students are engaged and challenged, oh my gosh, you can see the wheels turning. It’s Over…For a Couple of Weeks Anyway
Last night was my last class of the semester. Oh, wait, you may not know this but in my other life I teach American History at one of the local Universities. The classes are 7 weeks long and meet once a week for 4 hours. Yes, I said 4 hours! I also teach traditional classes but I think by far my favorite has to be the 7 week session. Generally, my students are Nursing or Physical Therapy majors who are taking the class during the short session because they use the longer sessions for labs and such. At the beginning of the semester, I usually have the students go around…
