Finished Baby Blanket {Yarn Along}
A few weeks ago, a friend (and mentor) of mine sent me a message on Facebook letting me know that he and his wife are expecting their first child this spring. To say I was excited for them would be putting it mildly. I get a little misty every. single. time. a friend tells me they’re expecting. Chalk it up to my uterus being closed for business. Anyway, I immediately started thinking about what I could get for the new little person. I wanted something thoughtful and original, something that would reflect the respect that I have for the parents… And that’s when it occurred to me to make a…

Children are a Heritage {Yarn Along}
A few weeks ago, a friend called to tell me that he and his wife are expecting their first son in early spring. I couldn’t have been more thrilled for them. I immediately started thinking about what I could get to help welcome their little one into the world and it occurred to me that the greatest gift that I could give is one that comes from the heart ~ a handmade baby blanket. The blanket will be made of 3 solid colors {dark brown, tan and baby blue} and blue, dark brown and tan multicolored granny squares. I’m trying to decide whether or not to use a contrasting yarn…

A few weeks ago, my friend, Mylynka from Finding Myself Fit by Forty, posted a picture of herself on Facebook wearing a scarf that I’d made for her so that I could see her in it, this led to a few of her other friends admiring the scarf and asking about it. After getting some introductions, one of Mylynka’s friends and I worked out a trade ~ a scarf in exchange for some soy candles… I’ve never bartered before but I’m pretty stoked about the idea of exchanging handmade products with someone. There really is something so comforting and, I dunno, homey about knowing that someone used their time and…

1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. A friend of mine is dealing with cancer, so I’m making this scarf and flower pin set to show my support for her. Once I’m finished it will have 2 more flowers: one in solid pink and one in solid brown. With each stitch is a prayer for health and strength as she goes through this difficult time. I’m joining up with Ginny from small things for Yarn Along. To participate, all you have to do is take a picture…

I enjoy crocheting. I find it therapeutic. I think I’ve said this before… But I also love the idea of taking a ball of yarn and turning it into something ~ a cozy scarf, a colorful flower, a snuggly blanket… Wearing something that I made with my own two hands brings me joy and a sense of satisfaction that few other things can. This week I started crocheting a gray mesh scarf using that I found here at Lilibeth’s Garden. I adore the airy look of the scarf and have made similar ones before in various yarns. This time I decided to use a weightier yarn to make the scarf…

Yarn Along
This morning when I woke up the air was crisp, I welcome break from the triple degree weather we had when we first moved here and the high 90s that have dogged us for the last few weeks. Can you tell I’m a sweater weather girl? I love my cardis, so warm and cozy, they are the grown up version of a snuggy. Wearing the same ol’ cardigans day in and day out can get a bit dull though, so I like to brighten them up with crocheted flower pins. I wear them in singles and in bunches. Sometimes they match my sweater, sometimes they just go with… Either way,…
