I started drinking coffee when I was about 10 years old. We were living in Italy at the time, and every Sunday after church, there would be a beautiful spread of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and assorted baked goods. I walk beside the table, inhaling deeply, enjoying the various smells, but it was always the coffee that I drew my attention.
As an adult, coffee connects me to my past, enhances my present, and propels me towards my future. Through my love of coffee, I’ve reconnected with friends I had in Italy and met new friends who’ve introduced me to exotic brews. For me, coffee isn’t just about having a warm drink, it’s about connecting to the people around me; that’s why I started posting coffee pictures on Instagram.
A few weeks ago, my friend and “baby brother”, Tony Armstrong {an incredibly talented photographer}, noticed my pictures and started encouraging me to create a series out of my love of coffee and coffee mugs. I was intrigued and flattered that someone saw potential in me and my quirkiness, so I agreed. I just wasn’t sure where to begin.
My pictures on Instagram were quick shots, taken to simply wish everyone a good morning with a comforting cup of coffee. It was my way of wishing everyone warmth and love as they started their day. But the words had escaped me. That’s where Beatrice of inspired by beatrice clay stepped into the picture. With her eye for beauty and inspiration, she helped me to focus and see the story in my photos.
That’s why I’m honored that Beatrice will be joining me every Tuesday morning to share her love of coffee and the words of inspiration that go with it. I invite you to follow her on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter as we celebrate That Coffee Life.
If you’d like to join us, just take a picture of your coffee, tell your story, and link up. We’ll be using the hash tag #thatcoffeelife.
Cheers,
