Week 4: Fill the Frame

Nikon D7500 | 50mm | f/5.6 | 1/25 | ISO 500

2018 saw the introduction of a new 52 week photography project, which has me totally excited. This year I want to really step out creatively and learn/practice new skills. I’d also really like to do more than just make photos of my morning coffee, although I do enjoy that. If you’d like to join in, I’m using the prompts from Definitely Dreaming. Anyway, I thought I’d let these posts do a sort of double duty, if you will. I’ll share my weekly photo and a few highlights from the week.

So here goes…

  1. The feel good stories of the week come from Ann Curry’s new show, We’ll Meet Again on PBS. Ann Curry has always been one of my favorite anchors and I’m so incredibly happy to see her back on TV. This show reconnects people who touched each other and then lost contact. It’s part mystery, part documentary, part research, and part story telling. Everything you could ever really want in a show. And Ann Curry is the perfect person to host. She has the sensitivity, the inquisitiveness, and the deep down kindness to explore these stories without it feeling exploitative or intrusive. If you haven’t watched this show, you definitely need to check it out. Is there someone who made an impact on your life that you’d like to see again? I have two people: Miss Devine, who was my elementary school teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mr. Wolford, who was my librarian in Aviano, Italy. If you know them, let them know I’d love to see them again.
  2. On Wednesday night, I made the most amazing cheesecake. From a box. Who knew that was even possible?
  3. The Hubs and I drove to Cordele the other day and it was just the sweetest ride. Sometimes just getting in the car and going is nice. Granted, he was driving me to a library session, but it was nice being able to just ride, talk, listen to music, and not feel any pressure.

What made you happy last week? Share in the comments.

Have a good week,
