10,000 baby steps per day. That’s what I’m taking. Sometimes more, but most of the time I’m just at 10,000 steps. I know I need to do more. Sometimes I think about the workouts I used to do when I was in the Army {jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, 3~5 mile run} and I remember how buff I was and think, gosh, I should just do that. Then I get home from work and I’m all, well, maybe not so much. After all, I was about 20 years younger then. I know, I know, “age ain’t nothing but a number.” And, if I really want to do this, I do need to push myself.

Hands down, weekends are the hardest days of the week for me. I’ve finally accepted two thing:

  1. I have to do some sort of exercise every day, “rest days” really don’t work for me
  2. I have to be extra vigilant with my eating on weekends

I do so well during the week and then slack during the weekend because I want to relax and enjoy myself. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t eat a lot of junk nor do I just veg but I’m not as thoughtful of the process. For example, if I want to eat a couple of chocolate chip cookies during the week, I’ll think about the consequences {extra time on the treadmill, no second helping of a favorite dinner meal, etc.}, but during the weekends I just kinda jump and think later. This has caused me to move two steps forward and one step backwards in the weight loss department. That being said, I did still manage to lose a couple of pounds and a few inches. So I won’t complain. Too much.

Fitbit Stats:

Fitbit Last Week of July Stats {living outside the stacks} #operationsnapback

I wish Fitbit provided an end of month review… I like being able to look back over the week, but it’s not particularly useful for this kind of post. I guess, if I were so inclined, I could piece together my own end of month graphic… But I probably won’t. I don’t know. That being said, I do like that I can see that I am losing a bit of weight each week, even if it’s not the 1 to 2 lbs per week that I’d like. Like I said earlier, I need to burn more calories. I’m still not hitting my ~3500 calorie deficit.

Goals:

  • Find a strength training program I can do at home
  • Increase my calorie burn
  • Introduce healthier foods into my diet

If you’re on Fitbit, send me a request and let’s encourage each other.

If you’re thinking about buying a fitness tracker or upgrading your current model, check out my review of the Fitbit Blaze here.

I’ll be posting my stats the second Monday of the month and linking up with Fatima at Off the Potomac for Operation Snap Back™ at the end of the month. Feel free to follow Operation Snap Back™ on Instagram for photographic inspiration.

Be healthy,
