New House Tour: The Living Room
I love my new house. One of the things I knew I wanted in our new place was a lot of light. I wanted to be able to take photographs inside without running around, gathering lamps from all over the house and then aiming them at my subject. I also wanted a fireplace. I may not ever use it but I wanted one. I just think they add warmth to the living space. Welcoming Another Tech Kid to the Family: iPad 2
The hubs never ceases to amaze me. Today I was sitting on the sofa, working on my notebook, when the hubs walked in and said “Stand up”. Now, anyone who knows me, knows I immediately went in to “You don’t tell me what to do” mode. I stood up anyway, but kept up a running commentary, until he leaned over kissed me and said “Thank you for being you.” Then he presented me with a shiny new iPad 2. Suh~weet. Hurricane Irene: Would You Ride It Out for the “Experience”??
I’m sitting here watching the news coverage of Hurricane Irene and the one thing that strikes me is the stupidity of people. Governors in 10 states have already declared states of emergency and/or ordered mandatory evacuations, yet, there are people who are adamant about remaining in their homes. What? One guy actually said he wanted to “experience a hurricane”. “Experience a hurricane”? Why in the world would people want to stick around to “experience a hurricane”? Have these people not watched the news and seen the death and the destruction that can result from these storms? Do they not remember Hurricanes Andrew or Katrina? Crazy Days of Summer: My Favorite Summer Memories
I’ve enjoyed this challenge so much. Seeing the pictures that others have taken, makes me want to do better, aim differently, focus on one feature and just have fun. Getting to Know Missouri: Cape Girardeau Southside Park
One of the things that first struck me when the hubs and I visited Missouri for the first time was incredible amount of parks ~ 2 large parks, 1 water park and a series of smaller community parks. Not only were there a lot of parks but just about every square inch was covered with families involved in some sort of activity. I’d never seen anything like it before. And clean. The First Day of the New School Year
I’m sitting here in the living room, The Golden Girls playing in the background, knowing I should be in bed sleeping but I can’t. There’s too much going through my head. Today is the first day of school for the younger three kids and the day we move the oldest one in to her dorm. Gosh, where does the time go? It feels like only yesterday the nurse was placing Miss 17 in my arms. I remember sitting there staring at her.
