Week 1: The Beginning | Self Portrait
Week 1: The Beginning | Self Portrait Nikon D7500 | 35mm | f/2 | 1/2500 | ISO 640 Happy New Year! So, I guess you can tell that I’m starting another 52 week project. I don’t know why I do this to myself… Actually, yeah, I do. Because I keep thinking this’ll be the year that I finish. I mean I really want to finish something. And I’d really like the opportunity to do more than just make photos of my morning coffee, although I do enjoy that. So I thought I’d let these posts do a sort of double duty, if you will. I’ll share my weekly photo and…

2017 Best Nine on Instagram
I’ve heard 2017 described in a variety of ways. Most of them unpleasant, courtesy of the current political and social climate. And, I can’t lie, it hasn’t always been easy. There’ve been times when I’ve wanted to bury my head under the covers and cry because of the heaviness of it all, but then I think of all the ways that I’ve been blessed and I can’t help but to say “Thank You, Lord, for all that I’ve been given.” I look at my the photos from my Instagram feed and I see health, happiness, and restoration. I see a couple doing something they never really thought they’d get to…

Week in Review: Week 16
Good morning! One of the major things that I’ve learned from blogging and photography is that we need to document our lives. It may seem a little narcissistic and a tad bit crazy but think about all those moments you wish you’d captured… Not the big planned moments but the little ones that seemed insignificant at the time, those are the ones that make up our lives… So my challenge to you, my friends is to get your cameras (cell phones count) and take pictures for one day out of your life. You don’t have to share them, just keep them. And make sure that you’re in at least one…

Week in Review: Week 15
Just about every morning I post a picture of myself with a cup of coffee. I do this as a way of connecting with my friends and just starting my day off right. As much as I’d love to sit with each of you, share a cup of coffee, and enjoy a laugh, I know that’s not possible… So this is my way of making it happen. If you’re on Instagram or Facebook, please feel free to share a picture of yourself with your favorite beverage. Last Spring, these little guys were all over the library as part of a game being played by students. I thought it was creative…

Weekend in Review: Week 14
Hi! How was your weekend? Mine was long and emotionally exhausting. My twins are seniors this year, so I’ve been trying to adjust to the idea of them not being home anymore. So very difficult. The Hubs, The Boy, and I spent a couple of days at Missouri S&T, where The Boy will be an engineering major in the Fall. I’m so not ready. I know I should be celebrating the fact that our jobs as parents have resulted in two young adults who’re ready to take on the world, but all I keep seeing are my babies. Leaving home. OK. Enough. My favorite coffee picture from last week. The…

Weekend in Review: Week 13
Are we all agreed that we need a day between Sunday and Monday? It really feels like the weekend goes by too quickly… Did you notice that I changed the title of this post? Well, I noticed it’s less about selfies and more about documenting my weekend and sharing the memories. I’ll be the first to admit that my life isn’t glamorous, nor is it always fun and exciting, but it’s my life and I truly believe nothing is ordinary… My favorite coffee picture of the week. I’m not sure why, but sometimes The Boy likes to stick his thumb on my forehead. This was one of those moments. The…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 12
Happy Monday, y’all. How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice. The Hubs and I did our usual weekend thing: breakfast and window shopping {which led to me meeting an online acquaintance face to face, more about that later this week}, laundry doing, and family time with The Walking Dead. I also caught up on some blog reading, online game playing, and laughs with my sister. Overall, a weekend well spent. And here are some pictorial highlights from last week: All that’s left of my birthday flowers are the dried heads. Kinda morbid but romantic, right? My family room is BORING. As in there’s nothing down there but a sofa,…

5 Ridiculously Easy Steps to Update Your Facebook Cover for Spring
Raise your hand if you’re ready for Spring. taking note of all the hands waving wildly in the air. I see you back there, jumping up and down wildly. Trust me, I’m right there with you. All of this snow and ice and cold weather has me kicking rocks, y’all. But rather than continue to risk injury, I decided to do something constructive: a digital spruce up. And I did it using quite possibly the easiest photo editor in all of the Internet: PicMonkey. Seriously, if you haven’t tried it, you need to get on it now. Shameless PicMonkey shoutout: many of the cool tools are free but it’s so…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 11 {In the Dark Room}
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was nice. Spent some time with the family, which is always a blessing. I love it when we can all get together for meals, especially now that those times are few and far between. We’re missing Mrs. 27 and her family but someday… I complained about the snow. Yes, more snow and ice. After a day of near 70º temperatures. And, of course, I enjoyed copious amounts of coffee. Here are some pictures from last week: The hubs had flowers delivered to my office last week for our anniversary; this rose was such an unusual color that it instantly became my favorite. I’ve…
