Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

  • When I read this headline on Facebook, I thought it was a joke. A very bad joke. Because Facebook is full of them. Except it’s not a joke. It’s real. And all I can say is “What the what?” Does the court not understand how things work? A guy cannot just fall on top of and penetrate a female. Anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics, common sense; they all dispute this man’s claims.
  • And while we’re talking about crime and {no} punishment, can we all keep our eyes peeled for Ethan Couch? This guy killed four people and got away with it because he had “affluenza“. His defense attorney said he didn’t know right from wrong because he’d never been disciplined. Whatever. A person can be raised by wolves and know that killing someone is wrong. The fact is this person never had to face consequences for his actions and by giving him ten years’ probation for the MURDER of four people, the courts sanctioned his inability to care about anyone but himself. This guy never should’ve been allowed to walk free. Had his name been Lamar or Marquis or Jaqwon, he would’ve been under the jail.
  • I have never seen Star Wars. Nor have I read any of the Harry Potter books. This does not make me a bad librarian.
  • When I see people posting pictures of people they’ve helped who’ve fallen on hard times, I always wonder is it OK with the person being helped? What about preserving their dignity and privacy? And why do you feel the need to share what you’ve done? Aren’t you supposed to help without wanting something in return? Just a thought…

Now it’s your turn, what’s on your mind?
