I’ve always been a crafty kinda person. I remember as a young girl designing clothes in a sketch pad. And naming each and every outfit. I used to dream of showing my clothes in Paris, opening little boutiques across the U.S., falling in love with Billy Dee Williams. The last was the result of a late night viewing of Mahogany… Eventually, I put aside the sketch pads, colored pencils and dreams of Billy in favor of a typewriter Am I dating myself? and decided that I wanted to become a reporter foreign correspondent to be precise. Well, none of those dreams have panned out…
But I have started creating things again. Only now I use yarn and create wearable art. When I was in my early teens a family friend taught me how to crochet and I kept with it long enough to make a blanket for my great grandmother, then I put the yarn aside that typewriter again. I picked it up again a few years ago and started crocheting scarves for friends and family. Then I added flowers to my repertoire…

Flowers I

I like using crocheted flowers to dress up plain cardigans or hold scarves in place. I’m even thinking they might be cute additions to my tees when the warmer weather hits. My daughters like to wear them in their hair, which I think is adorable.

How do you update your sweaters and tees?
