Flowers and Favorites {About Me}
Have you ever had one of those days where everything is just meh? You’re neither happy nor sad, bored nor busy? That was Friday. Until I got phone call from the florist asking if I was home to receive a delivery. What?! Who would be sending me flowers? The hubs is terribly allergic to anything that has even a spot of green on it, so I knew it wasn’t him. I quickly called home and told the kids to take delivery of the flowers for me. Then my paranoia stepped in and I started thinking all sorts of crazy thoughts… What if it’s poison? What if one of the kids…

Autumn Flowers {Photography}
For the past two days I’ve been working evenings, so I’ve been at a loss as to what to do with myself during the day. Sleep is so not an option. I’m used to being up and moving. So I grabbed my camera and started snapping pictures of things around the house, but nothing inspired me. Then I caught a glimpse of the flowers growing just outside my window… Aren’t they lovely? I’m not sure what they are but I do love having them outside my front door… Hope you’re enjoying your day…

Changing My Perspective: Dandelions {Photography}
When I first picked up my camera, my goal was to simply capture a moment. I didn’t know anything about focus, composition or lighting. I didn’t pay attention to angles and perspective. I simply picked up the camera, aimed and snapped. And while those photographs have made for some wonderful memory makers, that certain oomph is missing. It’s the oomph that takes pictures from being meh to wow. When taking pictures of flowers, for example, I used to only take them with me standing over them and looking down. A nice picture and incredibly “useful” in many cases. You get a nice overall view of the flower and the surrounding…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hi! Welcome to another edition of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. What a great week I’ve had: I was selected to be a small group leader for an online Bible study program which has me so excited, I finally got my Facebook page set up and I’m loving it (please click here to check it out) and, well, I’ve been blessed to see another week and participate in another hunt. 1. Vintage I bought these beautiful necklaces at a second~hand shop when I lived in Pennsylvania. There’s something so classy and yet so funky about pearls, don’t you think? 2. Word or Quote I saw this verse written on slip of paper…

Crocheted Flowers {Feeling Crafty}
I’ve always been a crafty kinda person. I remember as a young girl designing clothes in a sketch pad. And naming each and every outfit. I used to dream of showing my clothes in Paris, opening little boutiques across the U.S., falling in love with Billy Dee Williams. The last was the result of a late night viewing of Mahogany… Eventually, I put aside the sketch pads, colored pencils and dreams of Billy in favor of a typewriter Am I dating myself? and decided that I wanted to become a reporter foreign correspondent to be precise. Well, none of those dreams have panned out… But I have started creating things…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: White #NaBloPoMo
I know I said orange was difficult to find but let me tell you, white was darned near impossible. I mean I didn’t get desperate enough to wish for snow or anything but I did have to get creative with some eggs for a couple of shots and dip into my folder of old photographs for others. I took these pictures at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center late last week. I love walking around the Conservation Center, it’s so beautiful and peaceful. I can’t wait to go there in the Spring and Summer when all of the flowers are in bloom and the butterfly gardens are alive with the flitter…

Crazy Days of Summer Photo Challenge: Flowers
Azaleas I’m so not a gardener. Green things and I have an understanding ~ I promise not to touch them or their family members and every year the Azaleas in my front yard will pay me a visit. They don’t stay for an extended period, just long enough to say they appreciate me keeping up my end of the deal… I’m not very good at taking pictures of flowers, I’m not sure why… Anyway, I accept that this is a weakness and would like to get better. Anyone have any tips they’d like to share? Crazy Days of Summer Photo Challenge is hosted by Alicia of Project Alicia and Kristi…
