Self-Portrait-{living-outside-the-stacks}-

Hi, I know I’m late to the linkup. That seems to be a trend with me when it comes to linkups. One of the reasons I wanted to join this linkup is because I wanted to do something other than style posts. I enjoy the style posts, but I’d like to supplement, ya know? And this is also a fun way to share and get to know a little about each other.

LOVING

OK, this is a bit of a weird thing but I have been obsessively ordering brownies from Outback Steakhouse at least once a week. I know, I know, I know. I don’t know what it is about those brownies, but they’re so good. They come piled high with ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings. I’ve tried making it at home, but it just doesn’t have that whatever it is that they put in it at Outback.

READING

I decided this year is going to be THE year that I complete my Goodreads reading goal. I set the bar low so that I won’t miss my target. LOL And, so far, so good. I’ve already finished one book and am on to my second: The Street by Ann Petry. Such a good book. Ann Petry is a new to me author and, honestly, I can’t remember how I found out about this novel. Probably on Pinterest. The Street tells the story of Lutie, a single mom in her thirties and her struggle to achieve the American dream in 1940s Harlem. Petry was a Black writer of novels, short stories, and children’s books. The Street became the first novel by an African American woman to sell more than a million copies. This is one of those books that you really want to read with a book club because there is sooooo much to unpack.

REMEMBERING

Squeekerz popped up in my Facebook memories and, y’all, I’d forgotten what a little snot he could be. He’s been gone almost 3 years now and I still miss him daily.

SHARING

This quick and easy recipe for Ramen with Egg and Shrimp. So very delicious.

WISHLISTING

The Hubs and I are planning to update our pantry in the next 6 months to a year, so I’m scoping out doors. Right now the pantry doors open into our laundry room and I want to seal them up and have them open into our dining room with vintage doors. Soooo that means I need COVID to get under control so we can start scoping out antique shops. I also want to replace the lighting. The current chandeliers/ceiling fans aren’t my style at all. I’ve been furiously pinning ideas for our redo here.
