As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.
How was your weekend? Mine was nice. Peaceful. The Hubs and I went downtown to the Cars and Coffee get together. It’s basically a chance for the community to get together and talk cars. Vendors and musicians also attend. I used it as a chance to step out of my comfort zone and take pictures of cars — something I almost never do. You can see my pictures on Instagram or you can wait for the post to show up here.
About the Fab Forties
The Fab Forties is a group of style bloggers from around the globe who come together once a month to share their common love of fashion. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger, who is also in her forties, to join us. The group’s goal is to take on a style trend and show how we each interpret and incorporate it into our lives. Four different ladies, four different styles, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.

MY LOOK
As usual, when facing these types of challenges, I headed to Pinterest to see what I could find. I don’t have very many guy adjacent clothes in my closet as my style leans more towards the feminine and, well, my style is boho to the core. That being said, I do have an affinity for eclectic clothes on males {think Lenny Kravitz, Jason Momoa, and the like}. So I found this image on Pinterest and decided to recreate it for this challenge.
I started with my Kantha Bae Cross Over Top because I think the pattern, while not a total match, definitely gives off the same vibes as the jacket in the inspiration image. The white tee and jeans were a no brainer. On deeper reflection, I wish that I’d dug through my jewelry box and pulled out a necklace or two…
Usually, the backs of these pieces are totally different from the fronts, but this one is a little more uniform. That’s one of the reasons why I love this line of clothes so much — when you receive your handmade piece, you don’t know what it’s going to look like until it arrives. On the website, you only get to see the front.
I’m really not as angry as I look in the pictures. I have serious RBF and sometimes I can’t control it as well as I think I can…

Mireille, Chez Mireille Fashion travel mom
There are few things more rugged or versatile than a denim shirt. I love how Mireille paired hers with white jeans and cowboy boots. Such a fun look, especially for hanging out and running errands.
Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge – Rediscover your edge
Shelby’s blazer dress is fantastic! Can you see the tie? And how about that little whisper of lace. Just perfect. Deep sigh at the velvet boots.
Suzy, The Grey Brunette – Happily giving the finger to ageism!
I will forever call Suzy my style sister! Her look is so cute. She kinda reminds me of Charlie Chaplin! Love it.
LAST THOUGHTS
Borrowing from the boys doesn’t always mean going into their closets, sometimes it can be as simple as using something he wears to influence what you wear.
