HAPPY #FISTBUMPFRIDAY

Do you remember {in the before times} when I used to do a little something called #FistBumpFriday? I didn’t start it, but I certainly had fun with it. It was a way for us to share a bit of happiness in a world that seemed full of everything but… I don’t know why I stopped, but I thought I’d bring it back. So here goes, some things that made me happy this week:

New music: Anywhere Away from Here by Rag’n’Bone Man & P!nk

I discovered Rag’n’Bone Man earlier this year and, y’all, his music is a whole vibe. I love the sound of his voice, it’s both haunting and comforting at the same time. He has a couple of songs that I really like, but I just recently heard his duet with P!nk and I could seriously just put it on replay. I think the words speak to me at this moment – in this space and time – because I’m still trying to figure out my place. I used to think that I’d have my crap together and that I’d stop overthinking every interaction by the time I hit my forties and, yeah, no. If anything, it’s worse. The feelings of do I belong? The insecurities over little things like not being asked to participate in a group lunch order. Stupid things, really. But things, nevertheless. Anyway, if you’re on Spotify or Pandora, do yourself a favor and just create a Rag’n’Bone Man station. I know, this is supposed to be a happy post, it is. Trust me. Having music speak to you is a good thing.

New {old} television: I’ve been binge watching Ally McBeal on Hulu. When this show first came out, I loooooooved it. Now I just keep thinking about how annoying Ally is. Still, I love this show. But if Ally were my coworker, I’d avoid her like the plague. That woman always has some sort of drama going on. And why can’t she walk without tripping and falling? Still, I love this show. I connect with Ally on this weird level.  I dance around my house. I have a theme song. Yes, really. Anyway, music is such a big part of this show. I remember cheering when Vonda Shepherd became an official cast member… I even went out and bought the soundtrack to the show. I think it’s because I connect to music. My bio dad was a musician {he played the trumpet and the guitar} and he was always strumming or humming something. I think the music reminds me of him and, gosh, I miss him so much.

Hmmm… I just noticed a theme here. Both of my happies are linked to music.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN
