Well, hello! How’s your week going? Mine is going so slowly. So very slowly. The students are on Spring Break, so the campus is empty except for a few random folks who wander into the library to print a few things. Ooooh, now that I think about it, they should totally use the campus as a set for The Walking Dead. It’s abandoned. The grass is this weird grayish color because Georgia has decided to become Winter now that it’s Spring. What’s up with that? And I’d gladly work as an extra. For no pay.
Anyway, these are the kinds of things that go through my head when I’m drinking coffee. Or sitting in an empty library.
But enough of that, let’s talk about the outfit:
This dress has been in my closet since last year but this is the first time I’ve ever worn it. I fell in love with it while shopping at Livi & Co and ended up going back the next day to get it. I like the loose fit, the crochet, the fringe, the whisper thin fabric… The only problem was that I wasn’t sure what to wear under it. It’s way too thin to not wear anything. I know there are some ladies who can go sans slip. I’m not one of them. My mom and the old church mothers beat it into my head: A lady always wears a slip!
I thought about pairing the dress with leggings or jeans and wearing it tunic style, but it just didn’t lend itself to that look. No matter how many ways I tried it.
Then one day, I fell in love with this dress at Target that had a slip because oh my word, you cannot find a real honest to goodness slip anywhere, only foundation pieces that suck in everything. When I got the dress home, I started to look at it and had a light bulb moment and decided to try it under the dress. I absolutely loved the way it looked!
The slip is like a deep olive green while the dress is a willow color. And the idea of it peaking out from under the dress was just fun! I paired it with a pair of striped tights to add a bit of bohemian flair and called it a day.
