My Photography Project: The Graduate
I haven’t worked on a photography project since 2024. Or, rather, I haven’t posted one since 2024. How could it possibly be that long? Have I been that busy with, ummm, what? Life? Let’s see, what have been doing? Oh, I know… I’ve been totally obsessed with my garden. Have you seen my greenhouse? You can check it out here. So far, I’ve harvested about 5 strawberries and handfuls of Sweet Basil and Rosemary. The Sweet Basil and Rosemary were used in pasta dishes and on some pork chops. Sooooo good. And the strawberries were amazing!! I still need to figure out how to control the bugs, so if you have any ideas, let me know.
Annnnnyway, I said all that to say, I had the opportunity to get behind the lens recently and it was wonderful! I’m always honored when students reach out to me and ask me to take their graduation pictures. I don’t take it for granted.
THE PICTURES
I had so much fun celebrating this bright graduate on becoming a pharmacy technician! Her commitment to healthcare and helping others is truly inspiring.
It was a privilege to celebrate her accomplishment from behind my lens.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN
When was the last time you picked up your camera?

Support Your Local Library
Dr. Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress, reminds us that “Libraries are a cornerstone of democracy – where information is free and equally available to everyone. People tend to take that for granted, and they don’t realize what is at stake when that is put at risk.” It’s crucial to recognize that our public libraries are facing significant challenges right now. Fortunately, there are ways we can offer support:
- Check out books, magazines, and more. Some libraries allow you to check out baking dishes, sewing machines, and all sorts of nontraditional library materials. Just ask.
- Attend events and programs {many are free}. There are so many programs that cater to a variety of interests, show up and have fun.
- Advocate for your library. Talk about to your friends and neighbors about how important your library is to your community.
- Wear your support. Buy branded merch from your local library and wear it.
Additionally, we must also keep in mind that academic libraries may be vulnerable in the future. Academic libraries are essential for learning, research, and supporting our democracy.
