Where Bloggers Live: What’s in My Bag

As always, I’m a couple of days late with my post. This time, though, I have a bit of an excuse: I was taking pictures of my granddaughter for her prom. You can see some of the pictures here, or you can wait for me to write a post {I promise it’ll be soon}.

It wasn’t until a few years after I got out of the Army that I started carrying a purse. I carried diaper bags with my kids, but I kept leaving them places and would have to retrace my steps until I found them. To be safe, I’d put a bottle and a pamper in the pockets of my BDUs when I had the kids with me. Yeah, I was that bad. LOL Then I separated from the military and something happened, I was watching QVC and they were showing Dooney & Bourke bags and I fell in love with a lavender cloth bag. I ended up buying it and the rest is history. Funny story about the Dooney & Bourke bag: when I was stationed in Korea, several of the ladies that I dormed with kept telling me I should get some bags before I moved back to the U.S. and I was not interested at all. I have regrets. LOL As for my first Dooney & Bourke bag, my daughter now owns it. Dooney & Bourke bags are still my favorite bags to carry, but I also have a few America & Beyond, Patricia Nash, and Madewell bags that I adore. I also have two camera bags that I rarely use but are equally as beautiful as my traditional bags.

THE PROMPT: What’s in My Bag

As you may know, I do a lot of the photography for the college where I work, so one of the first things to go into my bag is my camera. I shoot with a Nikon D850, which I upgraded to about 2 or 3 years ago. I also carry 3 lenses: 10-20mm, 35mm, and 50mm. However, I mostly shoot with my 50mm. It’s a great lens because of its versatility in tight and lowlight spaces.

I also carry my wallet, which has some of my most prized possessions: letters my kids wrote to me the first time I went on a business trip. I think they were about 5 years, 7 years, 7 years, and 9 years old at the time {my kids are now in their late twenties and early thirties}. I once forgot my wallet in a rental car and nearly lost my $*%# because I didn’t think I’d ever see those letters again. Yes, I should probably put them in a safe or something, but having them on me and being able to read them when things are tough makes my heart happy.

I also carry two pens: Pilot Precise V5 pens only. They are, hands down, the best pens ever. They’re smooth and consistent. And the feel between my fingers is second to none.

I have two sets of keys and work ID that I keep on me too.

Oh, and I carry my iPad, not because I use it all the time, but because there may be a time when I need it and won’t have it. I use my iPad for reading, scrolling Pinterest, and updating my agenda.

That’s about it.

IT’S YOUR TURN

What do you carry in your bag?
