ABOUT SONGFUL STYLE

Welcome to Songful Style. Songful Style is a new style challenge hosted by Anne {Spy Girl}, Marsha {Marsha in the Middle}, Michelle {My Bijou Life}, Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}, and Suzy {The Grey Brunette}. Each month, they’ll share a song with the lyrics and video and invite participants to use some aspect of the song to inspire an outfit.

This month’s theme is “These Boots Are Made for Walkin” by Nancy Sinatra.

MY OUTFIT

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to showcase these boots and, y’all, this is it. I’m so happy to my former Ageless Style cohosts for creating this style challenge. Otherwise, these boots would’ve been random footwear in a style post. I’ve had these boots for yeeeeears and they are oh-so-fabulous. They’re suede with – wait for it – a corset back. These boots can be worn with everything from dresses to jeans to leggings.

The kimono is another Kantha Bae purchase. Can you tell I’m just a little bit obsessed? My last few posts have been heavy on the Kantha and I ain’t a wee bit sorry. In fact, this Kimono made an appearance with my velvet dress a little while back, you can see it here. And, guess what? The boots are there too.

I can’t really remember the first time I heard Nancy Sinatra’s song, but I do know that my sisters and I have been singing it since we were little kids. And, given that we grew up in house hold where secular music was a big “No,” that was no small feat.

WHERE I WORE IT

I wore this outfit to work at the library. Temps were mild, so I was pretty comfortable. And there weren’t any events, so I didn’t have any photography projects for the school — just office work.

LAST THOUGHTS

You can draw outfit inspiration from just about anything — nature, art, music…

I’m looking forward to many more Songful Style Challenges; make sure you visit the hosts to see what they’re wearing.
