As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Happy Monday! I hope you had a restful weekend. I had my first mommy and son photo shoot on Saturday. I had such a great time and learned even more… I’ve never taken stylized photos of a toddler before and, y’all, I’ve forgotten how funny toddlers can be. The original plan was supposed to be mostly of the little guy, but I couldn’t get him to pose for me. Because toddler. Finally, I told him he could be the boss and, after that, we were able to capture the most amazing shots. With him and his mom.

Sunday was spent writing this post and binge watching Ally McBeal. I have a love/hate relationship with this show. On the one hand, Ally annoys the heck out of me because of all the stammering, stuttering, and tripping and, on the other hand, I want a theme song now. Do you have a theme song? You know, a song that makes you feel like you can conquer anything. I used to have one, but, lately, it’s just not working for me.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Welcome to Style Imitating Art. Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

MY OUTFIT

I feel like my last few outfits have involved a Kantha Bae piece. #SorryNotSorry These pieces are so comfortable and colorful and versatile. Apron dresses can be paired with cardigans, cropped blazers, skirts, and leggings.

I’ve heard a lot of people complain about the discomfort that comes from wearing a mask… So, here’s a tip that I learned from my sister: get yourself a turtle. The turtle is a little plastic piece that keeps the mask off your mouth and nose and allows you to breathe comfortably and wear lipstick without it smearing. And my tip: coordinate it with your outfit. Layer the cloth ones with filters and keep yourself and your community safe.

What are you doing to make mask wearing more comfortable? Do you coordinate with your outfits or do you just grab and go?
