Join Us for Style Imitating Art {living outside the stacks}

Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day… I know I just shared my favorite style decade, in this Fab Forties post, but my favorite art style is definitely Art Deco. So I’m all kinds of excited about this image.

I see shades of red, pink, smoky teal, olive, and, of course, ivory. I have a pink Swiss Dot top that I think will bring out the snow flakes in the image.

What do you think you’ll wear? I can’t wait to see!

THE CURATOR {And new co-host}

This week’s image is hosted by our new co-host, Kim from Fierce Fashion Blog. Kim is a fifty something style blogger with an eye for color and texture. Please join us in welcoming her.

Send a picture of your Style Imitating Art inspired outfit to Kim at by Tuesday, 12 February. She’ll share the submissions on her blog on Wednesday, 13 February.

You don’t have to be a blogger, a photographer, or an instagrammer to join! You just have to enjoy clothes.

Now go play in your closet,
