As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.

Hey, how was your weekend? I spent it binge watching Abbott Elementary and I have absolutely no regrets. Such a good show. And I appreciate that they do so much to assist public schools. Have you watched an episode yet? I highly recommend.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Shelbee {Shelbee on the Edge}, and Terri {Meadow Tree Style}. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of them selects an inspiration image and they each post the image on their blogs. The following Monday, they share their art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s work of art was chosen by Terri from MeadowTree.

THE INSPIRATION PIECE

This piece by Jan Steen is called “The Art Lesson.” Terri chose it because she “just liked this work.”

MY OUTFIT

When I saw the inspiration piece, I knew one of my Kantha Bae pieces would be a good fit. This Everyday Cross Over Top has the reds, golds, and browns from the chair and tapestry, while the faux shearling vest is a nod to the cow on the shelf. And the jeans mimic the table cloth and sash on the student’s dress.

WHERE I WORE IT

I wore this outfit to breakfast with The Hubs. We decided to go to Atwood’s Bakery, a local bakery/diner. Their baked goods are amazing — I ended up bringing home gourmet cupcakes {Red Velvet for her and Chocolate Turtle for me}  for my daughter and me, as well as some gourmet dog biscuits for Bleu and Lola. I think this may be our new cupcake place for Cupcake Day.

GET MY LOOK

This year, I plan to focus on shopping my closet or buying second hand; I have so many clothes in my closet that have gone unworn. And, if at the end of the year, it doesn’t make an appearance on this blog or Instagram, I plan to get rid of it. Are you planning to weed your closet or expand it?

If you’d like to purchase a piece from Kantha Bae, feel free to use my code: “Daenel” for $5 off. I’ll earn a small commission at no extra charge to you. If you visit the site right now, there’s a great sale going on.

Sizing: I’m 5’4″ and a dress size 12 to 14 {L, XL}. I wear a size 9.5 shoe.

Seriously, how fun are those glasses? I’ve always played it safe when it comes to wearing glasses, so I decided to go for fun since I was picking up a spare. These are blue blocker lenses and are supposed to help with computer work. I’ll be honest, I don’t know if they really work for easing eye strain, buuuuuut I feel oh-so-cool in them and, really, that’s all that matters. Right? LOL

This outfit from Rangeelaa works for this week’s prompt too. For outfit details, click here. This kaftan was gifted to me from Rangeelaa but all views shared are my own. If you’d like to see other pieces from Rangeelaa, click here.
