ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.
THE CURATOR
This week’s image was chosen by me.
INSPIRATION ART WORK
Cap | Early 19th Century | The Met
Back to school means Autumn for me. Even when it’s still over 90° outside. I can’t help it. I always think cozy sweaters, rich colors, snuggly caps. Well, that’s simply not an option in Louisiana. However, this cap kinda gives me autumnal vibes. The colors are pastel but saturated and, well, it’s a cap. And y’all know how I feel about embroidery: LOVE IT.
Have fun styling this piece! I know I will. By the way, if you’d like to go on a tour of my closet and see the pieces I have to choose from, visit this post.

Jodie {jodie’s touch of style}
Jodie opted to focus on her purse because she thought it resembled the flowers in the embroidery. It does! The colors are perfect. And how cute are her shoes? I can see those with a dress as well. On a side note, Jodie informed me that Stein Mart is closing {that’s where she bought her purse} so run don’t walk to catch some great deals.
Michelle {my bijou life online}
So when I originally saw Michelle’s picture, I was looking at it on my cell phone and had to zoom in… The collar is made of doilies! Isn’t that genius? And super creative. I think the greens are perfect for the inspiration piece, don’t you?
Nancy {nancy’s fashion style}
I am so digging Nancy’s dress! The colors with those boots and that blazer – nothing but heart eyes. I saw a similar look on a style show on TV and was immediately smitten.
Terri {meadow tree style}
I cannot tell you how loudly I screamed when I saw this HAND KNITTED sweater. You guys, I am in awe of anyone with this skill. The colors the knitting, the everything. This is just beautiful.
THE CO-HOSTS
Make sure you stop by and visit my co-hosts at 14 Shades of Grey, and Fierce Fashion Blog. You’ll definitely want to see their interpretations as well. Make sure you come back on Wednesday to see my co-hosts’ outfits.
Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}
How pretty is the trail of flowers in Salazar’s dress? It’s so feminine and pretty and with the addition of the shoes, just a little bit punky. Love love love.
Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}
Kim’s cardigan is so my jam. Y’all know I love anything embroidered, but I also have a very deep appreciation for all things lace as well.
