Welcome to Style Imitating Art.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s work of art was chosen by Terri.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

MY OUTFIT

I knew instantly what I wanted to wear when I saw Teri’s inspiration piece. I picked up immediate boho vibes and, y’all know, that is totally my vibe.

This is one of my favorite kaftans. I love the colors, the mixed prints, and the fact that it’s woven and flowy. I also like the tie at the waist – it keeps my top from being too boxy.

To be honest, I think this kaftan is a dress, but I wear it as a tunic. Well, since I’m being honest, I almost always wear my dresses as a tunic. Something I started over in Italy when I was a kid and I’ve continued through adulthood {I can so hear my daughter sighing deeply and saying “Mom, you’re so European.”}. I just saw her Mother’s Day weekend so all of her sighs and sayings are still bouncing around in my head.

I get a lot of questions on Instagram about my arm candy… I love leather cuffs and bracelets. I wear my cuffs on my right wrist because I’m right handed and they don’t interfere with my writing. That means that I load up my left arm with bracelets {beaded or metal, depending upon my mood}. And, yes, I do wear a Fitbit and an Apple Watch. I’ve had a Fitbit pretty much since they came out and the watch was a gift from The Hubs to settle a job issue {my supervisor didn’t want us carrying our cell phones on us, I worked in the library alone at night, so The Hubs bought the watch so I could call or text in an emergency}.

I’m also a fan of big earrings and chunky rings. I keep my earrings to a smaller size when I go to work, but for weekends? The bigger the better.

So that’s it. That’s my outfit for this week’s Style Imitating Art. And this is a typical Saturday/Sunday look for me. Comfortable and boho inspired.
